Blog posts on DDI should be free

And when we build a character with the character builder, we actually didn´t build a character. Because eCharcterbuilding is not Characterbuilding. As someone on the internet, i know this. Some people might accept the alternative, but that doesn´t make it an actual replacement. *goes to read...

    This mentality needs to die

Or you could be searching too hard to notice a phenomenon which you already see as prevalent. And the ruling just meant that certain magic simply doesn´t work on objects. But who knows. Perhaps there IS a storm in this glass of water, and i just can´t see it.

    This mentality needs to die

Could we please let the usual goth / emo stereotyping out of this thread? Both things are not remotely the same. It´s insanely juvenile to feel the need to use them as a denigrating label for something you don´t care for. I thought we left that behind us after the big 4e flamewars died down.

    I've experienced D&D4

Halftime results of this thread: - TEAM A: Discussing things we have discussed before 1000 times: 8 - TEAM B: People creating hits on Bullgrits blog: 10 I admit, i´m not sure yet who will win. I would tell you on my blog, but i don´t have one. :(

    I've experienced D&D4

I have an opinion about the word you used on your blog and which you don´t want to write here for fear of inciting a flamewar. However, because i don´t want to incite a flamewar either, i hid my opinion on the internet, and won´t provide a link. Suffice to say, i disagree with your assessment...

Dislike 4E? You can write off 5E

That would be my "D&D - nightmare edition". It would be like asking soccer fans "how should we revise the soccer rules - send us your admissions." I.e. "beer hats for every player." D&D influenced by the most hardcore fans (and let´s be honest, those would mail a majority of the submission) =...

    Underdark. Woah.

This would spawn dozens of "great - now i have to change my Underwild" comments IMC. Sometimes, playing with English students can have it´s drawbacks. :p

Dislike 4E? You can write off 5E

I´m still left to wonder: If i like 4e, can i "write on" 5e? Hmmm, does that mean... 5e is the iPad? Mac-only DDI for 5e?

Does Dungeons and Dragons need supported settings?

I disagree completely. For me, the best FR would have been if TSR would have stopped at the Grey Box, continuing "support" for that setting only through: a) magazine articles b) modules c) novels. All 2-5 years there should´ve been a revised box/book or a "compendium". I like settings for the...

Does Dungeons and Dragons need supported settings?

I reread my post and saw that i could condense it into a single sentence: "Setting support should appear in Dragon - if at all."

Does Dungeons and Dragons need supported settings?

Support kills settings for me. I nearly lost interest in FR because of the flood of stuff that tried to define all those areas who had been only inspiring scetches before. But if you like a stream of continuous lore about a setting, Wotcs current policy is nothing for you, of course. I´d rather...

    Product Catalog Update [cover images]

Holy Crap, those are some awesome covers. And the layout and desing is superb. I don´t NEED that DM essential box, but with that cover, it´s hard to say no.

Is D&D all about murder and pillaging?

An edition comparison. I sure didn´t see that coming. I also am surpised by who took position in what trench in this little shoot-out. It is so unusual to see, forex, Prof. Cirno chiding people for poor reading comprehension or Ariosto citing obscure knowledge to support that, indeed, older...

    Anyone using Onenote?

Also, remember that you can download the Office 2010 beta for free and use it until october. You won´t be able to look at your notes afterwards, of course, but it´s a cool way of trying Onenote without paying. And i like some of the improvements, enough that i have converted all my notebooks.

What defines the "edition war" and why are participants / moderators opposed to them?

So, edition wars are created because people who are angry at a company are angry at a company because they think that company did something to anger them? Makes sense.

    The New Red-Box...

Boxed set cannot ever hope to be cheaper than hardcover books. If you´re not a newbie to RPGS and want to get into the game, the Core is still your best option. Or you get both for maps & tokens. ;)

What defines the "edition war" and why are participants / moderators opposed to them?

Somewhere, 99 philosophy students just exploded. You know what´s also just another form of religion? Apples. No, think about it.

You're the Head of WOTC. Now What?

I would mainly make small corrections: find a way to publish all .pdfs again, push the Brand into other media a lot (D&D cookbooks, mobile games, more comic books and computer games). Revise the Wotc forums - they´re getting better but are still badly organized. Otherwise, i think they are on...

    Basic Sets in General...

Well, The Dark Eye has a Basic Rulebook... which is 300+ pages long. They use other methods to spread the word: there are some good introductory modules, mobile games (read: solo adventures you can play on your phone), and the full basic book pdf was included in the new TDE computergame...
