Indie game designers unite to buy D&D!?

This contains so much wrong i don't know where to start.... Since when is any of the above "Indie"? Paizo has a rock-hard mainstream business model, and the others... Bwuh. Adkinson is indie now? Open up the game for "non-commercial use" and then releasing all editions? Releasing how...

Which groups of fans are worth going after?

The core strategy is taking those people for a ride who are not too jaded to try something different.

    4 groups of D&D fans, not 3

Finally, another arbitrary way to categorize D&D. As usual, i have to plug my own categories: - DM's who sucked the D&Dishness directly from the Gygaxian teat. - Players who won't play in campaigns not including comeliness. - The "Forgotten Realms Balkan" - Grey Box vs. FR Adventures vs. 2e...

Dear Wizards of the Coast blog post...

Actually, I outsell D&D, not Paizo. I've just ordered a second printing of me to satisfy popular demand, and while I cannot disclose revenue numbers, I'm currently really profitable. Additionally, I'm only one like the RC and not three like the corebooks of Pathfinder or 4e. The woodgrain box...

D&D 5E (2014) Playtesting D&D Next: Reapers, Cantrips, Turnings, Rests...

I wanted to write "I wonder if the next time if ENworld has some downtime we get "OMG Paizo forums are still up - Paizo is showing Morrus how it's done again!"" but i decided not to - we want to talk about the playtest, after all, and that would just derail the thread. Anyway, i'd guess that...

    Jonathan Tweet talks "13th Age"

"It tries to recapture some of the hobby’s early freshness, when RPGs were less professional but perhaps more genuine." Yeah, well... I admit i rolled my eyes when i read that. Not as much as at the constant "D&D 3e grid noo!", but still. Trying to recapture "genuine freshness" by taking stuff...

Have you heard about the "Pathfinder Online Technology Demo" Kickstarter?

While i normally wish Pathfinder all the best and admire them for their cool ideas, this is, well, bad. It's one step further towards "kickstarter for hiring a dude to create a portfolio depicting our cool idea". The core concept of creative work is this: Ideas are cheap. Everybody has them...

D&D is NOT Kobolds surviving Fireball

I have to mention that what the OP describes would break the fundamental physical laws of the universe. If we assume that Shroedingers Cat is actually a kobold, and that the deadly device inside of the box does not contain poison gas but a fireball, it means that Heisenbergs Uncertainty...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D next ... fate or doom ?

Ah, the good old "Ha$bro drains WotC like a vampire!" thing. This unsupported, anticorporate blather crawled out of the primal soup when TSR went under, and it has been with us ever since. Kinda like rats and humanity.

    What *isn't* D&D?

It isn't D&D if you're not allowed to creatively discuss things. A little bit like this thread, now i come to think of it.

Any news out of PAX East?

Seriously, what did you expect? There is a closed playtest and the on-site playtest at the conventions. Both include an NDA - and while those two are going on, nothing else is going to happen. That's how every playtest works.

WotC announces 'Rise of the Underdark' campaign

You are getting really adept at including content-free posts for every D&D news we get. Of course, others already threaten your dominance. Btw, the Year of the Drow was 2002. And the Menzoberranzan box came out in 1992, so i think while drow have become the orcs of D&D, we still need some...

    D&D 5E (2014) Who's given up on D&D Next?

There are - especially in these times - lots of other things more worthy of being disillusioned by than an RPG that does not exist yet.

    D&D 5E (2014) I hope this isn't 5E...(art that screams "not this, not this!")

It your and my definition of "giant" are not totally different, that doesn't work. The sword is not long enough to be more than a short sword for any kind of giant, and even if the giant was that small, he wouldn't be able to get two hands on that grip. Or let me rephrase that: Nobody ever...

    D&D 5E (2014) I hope this isn't 5E...(art that screams "not this, not this!")

We should feel lucky - just image if she'd taken a POLEARM from a giant! It would start on page 4 of the PF Corebook and end somewhere in the middle of the index. Also, i love the idea that this is somehow a "bastard sword" or a "anderthalbhänder". I mean, changing from 1 to 2 hands and back...

    D&D 5E (2014) I hope this isn't 5E...(art that screams "not this, not this!")

Not this: There's enough porn on the net. Not this: Yes i know it's iconic, blabla, but she is thinner than Mialee, except for the giantic boobs, of course. And girls want armor to protect body parts, too. Not this: Brown ugly dudes do more brown stuff in dark rooms. And not this: There...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next weekly art column!

D&D art has come a long way, but it has still a lot ground to cover. Inclusiveness never happens out of itself - it needs conscious thought and the will to change things. D&D art always reflects a vision of a fantastic society as much as the cultural concepts of those playing it. The "medieval...
