Is the "official D&D product" really that big a deal?

Our next big KoK release (coming in a few weeks) is Svimohzia: the Ancient Isle, which I think describes most visually as ancient Africa with an ancient Roman tech level (e.g. spectacular stone cities). We decided not to use the D&D brand on it (which incidentally gave us a little more art and...

Is the "official D&D product" really that big a deal?

No, there was definitely a benefit - but it was more for D&D gamers who don't visit websites and only buy D&D-branded products. It'll also vary by store - it works best when stores stock it alongside the other D&D brands, instead of elsewhere. Would we have pursued the brand if we'd known that...

Ha! I've got Aces & Eights!

Well, it still is! ;) We like to give your local stores a few days to sell it first, before releasing it for sale on our own webstore.

Ha! I've got Aces & Eights!

That was fast!!! :) I just shipped them to distributors last week! Must be because you're in the midwest, where we (and Alliance Midwest, of course) are. I look forward to seeing more of your thoughts, or even a review (hint hint). ;)

Is the "official D&D product" really that big a deal?

Well, thanks for adding us in at the end at least. ;) The Kingdoms of Kalamar line was certainly helped by being "2nd party" with the addtion of the D&D brand logo. (Although the approval process for text and art could be a nightmare sometimes... :) ) There are still quite a few gamers who...

    Favorite third party monster book

Not at the present. I still have hardcovers in the warehouse to sell. :) We generally limit our PDF releases to out-of-print products, or to products that we don't believe will sell profitably enough as print.

You can go to the Dangerous Denizens page and scroll down for a list of the creatures in the book, sorted by type and subtype.

D&D 4E What if 4e (whenever it happens) is not OGL?

Sure - think about generic medicines. Most of them say "compare to Tylenol" (or whatever) right on the bottle. :) You can mention a brand name without claiming ownership over it. Personally, I believe the OGL was a mistake for WotC - they instantly created dozens of competitors for the D&D...

Fantasy world maps and real world geology

Well, I care, but I suspect I'm part of a very small minority. Though my ego is huge, so they cancel each other out. :p ;)

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Setting: Map up!

Well, I can't see detailed terrain features from the scale of this map, so take my opinion with a grain (or ton) of salt. :) But you have to keep in mind that rivers flow from higher to lower elevations, and their bends are often influenced by the terrain around them. Some just seem to curve...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Setting: Map up!

I imagine (hope) there's probably going to be a lot of magic infusing the land, influencing the terrain. It's a very pretty map, but the drop-off and a lot of the mountains and rivers don't make any sense, in terms of real geography and how mountains are formed and rivers flow. Of course, I'm...
