    Fortune Cards

I think Fortune cards were recieved very poorly. I certainly hate them and the very idea of them. But then I hate Magic: The Gathering too.

    Elminster's Forgotten Realms

I think it is largely going to be edition neutral, wrapping up 4e stuff (Compendiums and what not) and possibly some reprints like the 1e books. I think we'll probably see our last new 4e products peter out by fall.

What doesn't belong in the "core"

I think I would also ask why people insist that there must be core rules for races and classes? After all, classes are specific rules, not the general rules which all classes follow.

    Social Combat

Yeah, that's another thing I forgot to mention. The players actually pay attention when I talk about court politics, or relationships between NPC's, or local events, or who the guy they are talking to is. Why? Because they actually have to come up with something to say. Trust me guys...

    Elminster's Forgotten Realms

If that's true, its about time. Plus, I think it is probably the only way you could get the FR community back together. I think that Ed could take the "broken realms" and spin it back to being a realmsian place again and heal the rift in the community without something as crude and divisive...

    D&D 5E (2014) The classes of 5e (now with 90% less speculation)

As a Dragonlance fan, and someone who frequents the dragonlance community, I can tell you that everyone uses halfling stats for kender if you play 3e or 4e. The only difference is they tack on an immunity to fear, which isn't very gamebreaking. Everything else is an annoying personality that...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e fireballs

Well it definately is going to be a difference of opinion on whether high level magic is broken, and just how "high magic" you can go. For example. some people are going to want a teleport where you can travel across the continent with a wave of your hand. Others want mages to carve...

What doesn't belong in the "core"

They are sneaky little guys with a flair for the dramatic and a genius for illusions, clockworks and alchemy. In other words, all the stuff showmen and stage magicians can do. What's not to like?

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e fireballs

I think you are assuming a increase of spell level that you shouldn't. If the attack bonus of fighters is going to be flattened, why not assume that spell levels are going to be similarly flattened in the increase of their power?

Reforms so you don't need healing surges

If anything isn't a solution that's good to know, so I encourage people to speak up. Vitality/Wound Points system seems to be very popular on this thread. Does anybody have any objections to it? I find it fairly similar to healing surges myself, so I'm wondering if it provokes the same type...

What doesn't belong in the "core"

I love gnomes. :.-( But I seem to be the only one I've ever seen playing one in all my years of D&D. However, one guy was willing to give the shardmind a go. The guy that is always insisting we play 2e, oddly enough.

What Does Your Perfect Edition Look Like?

I don't think there is such a thing as a perfect edition. What D&D is can be defined by whether it performs the function of exploring dungeons and killing dragons. Any edition that fulfills that function is D&D to me. I'm an Aristotelean not a Platonist.

Sorcerer: the only class I'm worried about (and how I'd make it)

I really like the idea of the sorcerer being con-based thematically. The problem is that constitution is a really good stat to invest in already because it provides more hp and good saves. But the 4e infernal warlock managed to work fairly well, so I guess it all depends on the implentation.

D&D 4E 5E as a Rewritten 4E with Flavor Bits from Other Editions?

I don't know. The biggest complaint I have with 3e is the BAB system, and that's pretty basic. (FYI, I hate it because it ruins multi-classing, the extra attacks of fighters are largely pointless, and the rogues can't hit anything even though they are melee characters).

What doesn't belong in the "core"

Yes, though I see that people want to exclude things like dragonborn and tieflings. I can honestly tell you I've seen more tieflings and dragonborn (3e half-dragons) than I've seen elven paladins or dwarven mages. Heck, I've seen more dragonborn than I've seen gnomes by a factor of 5. That's...

    Social Combat

I thought so too, but it doesn't seem to be the case. The biggest thing that seems to get people more confident in speaking is for everyone to be more involved. It is much easier to be involved in a group activity than it is to place yourself out there and take on the burden of roleplaying by...

    D&D 5E (2014) The classes of 5e (now with 90% less speculation)

If the 5e assassin looks a lot like the 4e Essentials assassin, I can be very happy. Especially if the poisons are moved to the equipment chapter where they belong instead of being a power.

    Social Combat

I'm not a big fan of using rolls to resolve social interaction. I find the Diplomacy skill is the biggest detriment to roleplaying in the game, as players generally use it as a "do what I say because you like me" button. It also shuts down characters from engaging in non-combat encounters if...

    Multi-Level Parties

Flattening out the attack bonuses and AC will also help with this immensely. Hopefully it will also make it so you can take lower level henchmen along again without it being a death sentence for your prized irreplacable follower.

AD&D 2E Should 5e use optional rules like 2e did?

Lots of people are talking about how they want things to be in the first PHB and what they don't. Should 5e take a page of 2e and include more complex, optional rules alongside the more complex options? For example take non-combat skills. The base rule was that your character could do what...
