Do You Only Play D&D For Your RPGing?

NO! D&D3.5 makes for less than 20% of all my games - the overwhelming majority uses GURPS4e :D

Is There Much Age Difference In Your RPGing Group?

Among all gamers in our circle the youngest one is 19 (swf), the oldest is 42 (male, father of three). The largest age gap among the players *in the same game* exists currently in our Scarred Lands campaign (22-42).

Advice on a Dragon Shaman (PHB II) character...

What's the best race to pick for a player who rolled the following starting abilities 9,11,16,16,16,15 and wants to play a Dragon Shaman (PHB II) - to be build at level 5 (=10,000 XPs)? Races may come from WotC: core books "Complete" MMII Fiend Folio BoED BoVD Dragonomicon Libris Mortis...

    Politics interfering with gaming

I don't even understand how anyone manages to call a person with radically different (i.e. opposed) politcal & ethical positions a "friend" - an aquaintance, yeah, but "friend"? However, I *can* usually ignore the religious believes of most people - as long as they're not going down some kind of...

A killer puzzle that makes me want to pull my hair out.

Urgh... lousy GM, stupid riddle, wasted time... Advice: kill the GM and take her stuff!

    I have the PHII...

yep: no doubling DC for a Jump check without a running start - if you *do* get a running start (20 ft.) you receive +5 to your Jump check. Very cool feat IMHO (especially for the barbarian/fighter/rogue in our campaign with a Jump check of +17 or so...)

    I have the PHII...

amazon delivered mine yesterday - AWESOME! I'm in love with the new base classes, especially the Beguiler and the Duskblade. The feats look great. Nice new spells. = best WotC buy since Heroes of Horror (for the Dread Necromancer and the Archivist) and Lords of Madness...

Why do d20 haters hang out here?

d20 is not my favorite system, and I usually (there are exceptions) don't enjoy running it - but I really like playing it (from time to time), I love some of the settings, and I really enjoy these boards here... Ok?

    Communal Setting: Cambria

One of the few good - or a least profitable - things about Cambria are the large deposits of a strange kind of coal in the northern parts of Cambria. This so-called gemcoal is a semi-opaque black material, which looks a bit like half-molten smoked glass. Depending on hardness and purity gemcoal...

    Communal Setting: Cambria

The strange effects of the rune-marked stones from the lowlands may be responsible for the some of the mistrust and outright hate against churches in Kelnmouth. The greatest church of the Faith in all of Cambria was build in Kelnmouth more than 120 years ago - with more than 1/3 of the stones...

    Communal Setting: Cambria

Today, confronted with muddy streets in spring or fall and the stench of thousands in summer, few visitors or inhabitants of Kelnmouth realize that the main element, which allowed the quick rise of a large settlement at this spot near the river, was the pre-existence of an ancient system of more...

    Communal Setting: Cambria

It seems that dragons - long extinct in the old nations west of the great ocean - may have never existed in Cambria in the first place. However, Cambria has several large lakes, many of which seem to be the home of a species of huge sea serpents. These creatures were sometimes revered as...

    Communal Setting: Cambria

Cambria is home to some beasts and animals unknown in the old homelands of the settlers. Though almost none can claim to actually have seen one, maybe the most notorious of these creatures is the Cambrian Mutebear, sometimes also called Tundra Beast. These predators look like a cross between a...

    Communal Setting: Cambria

Some say that the plague of the sin berries is only the just reward for the introduction of destilled alcohol to the native humanoids of Cambria. When Cambria was discovered the first explorers and settlers met serious opposition in the form of a dark-skinned subspecies of hobgoblins who lived...

    Communal Setting: Cambria

Every visitor of Kelnmouth will at least hear about the Splinterpalace, though only the most daring, dangerous or foolish will actually go to see, let alone *enter* the place. The Splinterpalace is a large conglomerat of dozens of old or even ancient buildings in the most seedy part of town. The...

    Communal Setting: Cambria

The oldest and largest settlement in Cambria is the city known as Kelnmouth. The river Keln, which gave the city its name, is a wide slow & silent waterway that is navigable for more than 30 leagues inland, up to the foggy Greedmoor and the village of the same name - a name which originated from...
