GenCon, sleep, hard-core gaming and drowsy driving

Any parent with young children can tell you sleep is overrated. All kidding aside, all of you folks be careful and drive safely. Everyone goes to Gen Con comes home safely. We never leave anyone behind. Only skeletons and zombies in the graveyard, not friends.

    Iron DM: format and philosophy

Please do not change anything about IRON DM. It has shown me, a player and DM since 1978, that I still have a lot to learn. I wish someone would've run a Home Game this time around. I am better able to participate in those than the real mccoy. Keep it up, folks.

Good day, gentlemen. Has anyone noticed a striking change in Dragon magazine?

I have lived in years where there was Dragon and a whole year when there wasn't. That year was less for it. It was greatly missed. Some I like better than others, but it is MY MAGAZINE, and I have had a lot of fun reading it.

Ideas for Iron Lords of Jupiter

Thanks for your input, Lizard, I hope to compliment your effort, not detract from it. Birds. I'm excluding birds because I think they are so ever present that their omission will really make a noticeable difference. The feather is such a miracle of engineering and often beautiful to boot...

Ideas for Iron Lords of Jupiter

Okay. I have slept on the concept and have a lot of ideas. Since no one I play with is on the boards, I feel I can share some. I really am intrigued by the concept on page 17 where Strangers could come from Earth from a variety of eras. A League of Extraordinary Characters could really be...

    [ot, kinda] Board Game suggestions

Risk 2210 is great. Risk LoTR is pretty kewl too. And we have a family fondness for classic Risk. Trouble never seems to be put away too far. Mille Bornes is a great game, too Pass the Pigs! has a following here Yactzee is a great filler.

    [Polyhedron] Iron Lords of Jupiter

Wow. Any old wazoo can whack together a Martian adventure. But it take a real innovator to take a ball of gas and make a land of high adventure out of it. Kudos to Lizard and an excellent job with ILJ which will cause me to get little done at work today mentally jamming on ideas to write down...

    Dungeon 100

Dungeon 100. I have been reading the adventures within this weighty issue since last week. Normally, I split the magazine with my son, Dungeon for him, Poly for me. I was piqued by the cover so had a look see. Wow, what an issue. I especially like Beast of Burden by Mike Kortes. Any...

    Post your Big Bads...

From my 1st edition campaign, yet to be converted. It has been some time since I've DM'd a campaign with characters able to take on BBEGs like these: Kinitari - Race of men enslaved by the Grand Kinitar to serve as his army. Deployed in war squads of five, with two swordsmen bearing vorpal...

Poll: Who did play in a group where the master had a "pet NPC"?

Pet NPCs. Three Things: The thing I've found after 25+ years of RPGing is that good NPCs make a good game great. Read Sepulchrave's Wyre story hour, for example. NPCs should earn experience at half the rate of PCs, to encourage their use with minor penalty. NPCs should rarely, if ever...
