    In search of a pantheon

And another one for Book of the Righteous! It was the highest rating book in EnWorld's Review system for a very, very long time. Very well done mythology and the deities mix so well.

    Take the HackMaster Challenge

Wow, I have been a fan of the Kalamar setting since 2e, never tried HackMaster but I guess I will have to now!

    HackMaster: The New Edition

A new version of HackMaster will be a long way away. They were working on Aces and Eights for the last couple of years and that is finally due out soon. From what I have read on their boards, they don't expect to keep the AD&D license simply because it took too much effort to get everything...

Fiery Dragon Ptolus Counters Have no labels - Help!

So you can remember the picture of every single NPC? That's very impressive. I am not up to that job unfortunately.

Fiery Dragon Ptolus Counters Have no labels - Help!

I just picked up a set of the fiery dragon Ptolus counters and much to my dismay, they are not labeled. Sure, I can look at the list on the top then carefully write on the back of the counter, but it will be a lot of work with 200 counters. How has everyone dealt with this?

Slowing Advancement and Other Arbitrary Restrictions

Have a look at LloydWrites.com 's Article on slowing down xp. I t simply defines and codifies a new xp system that many of us have been using for years (ie. level up every X sessions). I find it very useful as a base system, then add extra xp for roleplaying and extremely difficult encounters..

    The D&D Business Model

The problem with this is exposure. If most books are pdf only, or even POD then we loose the FLGS aspect. The player base will grow slowwer because It is harder for the average person to get product.

What makes a Campaign setting Interesting to You?

One element I have always wanted emphasised in a setting is vast logical trade routes. I find many settings leave them bland and undetailed which is a great pity because there are so many campaigns that can be built out of them. I also like internal consistancy in my campaigns.

    Looking For A Campaign Setting

Jumping on the Kalamar bandwagon here. Just some specifics: Psionics are supported, there are campaign elements designed around it. There are Psionic organisations and one adventure features it's main villain as Psionic (Lost Tomb of Kruk Ma Kali). It's books are 3.5 except for the Players...

Running D&D for the first time (or so it seems to me!)

Hmmm, good ideas, I dont really run modules but in this attempt I am going to try it! Great idea about looking back through the rulebook. Now that you mention it but I realise that I havn't actually looked in my Players Handbook for over three years now (let alone a 3.5 version) apart from...

Running D&D for the first time (or so it seems to me!)

I run D&D regularly, so why the question? Because I realised something recently that I have never actually ran a game of D&D as written! Not in the way it is presented in the core rulebooks. Whenever I run a game I never think about the magic level or any of that stuff but it always ends up as...

    Thoughts on Kalamar

Dynaj is one of those places that sparked my imagination as well. My current Kalamar game had the PC's running for their lives after they pissed off one too many of the Talsaara. Looking for a place to hide they stumbled across some info in the Player's Primer about Dynaj! They looked at me...

    Ptolus - Six Days Early!

From what I have been reading from the pdf releases, Ptolus looks like a good product. Since internal consistancy is something I look for in my worlds, I cant go wrong with Ptolus!

    Thoughts on Kalamar

It is for these reasons I really like Kalamar. Recently I have been exploring other settings but Whenever I dont have an idea for a game. I just open the Campaign Setting and viola. Ideas start jumping out. I never really understood why people find the CS boring but that's just me!

Suspension of Disbelief stretched to the breaking point in the World of Darkness

Just a quick note. Many people here have alluded this but I am saying it anyway. WoD can have different themes and genre's. I once played in a game of Masquerade set 100 years in the future in a cyberpunk style world. If this GM wants an endless Dungeon Crawl then I see nothing wrong with the...
