An open letter to Randy Buehler

Come now. If you'll read the whole thread, Hussar owns the fact that his post was based on ignorance. Hussar, you might want to edit your original post to head off people calling for your head when they read it. I can believe that the hesitance to release the over-all story arc summary is much...

Delaying to avoid Saving Throws or extend benefits

Heh. That section of the PHB is exactly what I was reading. Funny that I thought it was a discussion here on the boards. Thanks as always.

Delaying to avoid Saving Throws or extend benefits

I have been working over some timing issues with my group, as they are looking at optimizing the duration of "...until the end of your next turn" benefits. I'm pretty sure I saw a thread here regarding using the Delay action and its impact on benefit extension/penalty avoidence. I believe the...

    Priority of Immediate Reactions?

Good point. Does the following potential complaint re: this resolution have any weight in your eyes? - Initiative count 5: Fighter moves to the goblin and readies his attack for when his buddy (warlord preparing "Lead the Attack") attacks the goblin. Initiative order starts over at the top...

    Priority of Immediate Reactions?

In the situation where the fighter's partner was a warlord, the fighter could be waiting for the warlord to attack to take advantage of a sizable bonus from "Lead the attack" should the warlord hit. I try to do what I can to be sure that the spirit of the readied action trigger is honored...

    Priority of Immediate Reactions?

A fighter readies an attack with the trigger being when his ally the rogue attacks the goblin they are flanking. The rogue attacks the goblin, and misses. At this point, there are two immediate reactions that trigger off of the miss. The goblin's "Goblin Tactics" (when missed by a melee...

    Warlord Inspiring Word out-of-combat usage

Thanks all for the response. So the only real constraint is time. Narratively, this works in that I can picture the warlord spending time with each character in the down-time bolstering them, giving them feedback, inspiring them, etc. That's leadership!

    Warlord Inspiring Word out-of-combat usage

One of the players in my group introduced a situation that I wasn't sure about. After a battle as the party was using surges to heal, and the player wanted to use his Warlord "Inspiring Word" ability to assist the other players. The power is to be used up to twice "per encounter". How should...

    Readied charge interrupts a charge...

What I believe balances it away from "abusive" is that you are limited to basic melee and bull rush attacks, and there is always the chance that the triggering action won't happen, leaving you with no attack for a round.

    Readied charge interrupts a charge...

Thanks everybody for your replies. I tend to think that DracoSuave has it. At least, that's how I'm going to play it.

    Readied charge interrupts a charge...

This came up in a game Wednesday night that I was running: I had a kobold dragon shield ready a charge to trigger on any PC crossing a given line. A PC declared a charge action against another kobold, the movement portion of which resulted in moving into a square across the triggering line, so...

    Front Page article ordering?

I'm a little confused as to the ordering or articles on the front page. It seems that the articles are fairly randomly organized. At the moment, the right column, from top-to-bottom, is: July 9th, Today, Yesterday, July 7th, Yesterday, July 6th, July 7th, July 7th... It's nice as a reader to...
