Pathfinder 1E Hide in Plain Sight = poor man's invisibility?

You said "It doesn't count as a shadow if the opponent has darkvision, because darkvision trumps all visibility issues regarding normal visible light." if it doesn't count as shadow for the opponent, why would it count as shadow for the shadowdancer with darkvision? If the shadow is there...

Pathfinder 1E Hide in Plain Sight = poor man's invisibility?

It doesn't matter if an observing creature has darkvision - being observed doesn't stop the ability from working. The only condition is there being shadows within 10 ft of the shadow dancer - those shadows exist whether or not a creature can see clearly in them. The shadowdancer could hide from...

Pathfinder 1E Hide in Plain Sight = poor man's invisibility?

Thanks, hadn't seen where JJ had chimed in on it.

Pathfinder 1E Hide in Plain Sight = poor man's invisibility?

It works fine versus targets with darkvision - The ability of the target to see in the dark makes no difference to the character hiding in plain sight - he gets to make a stealth check "even while being observed" if within 10 ft of an area of dim light. The ability doesn't just require...

    D&D 5E (2014) Art: Goblinoids, Take Two

If that's the case then I think the thighs look too thick. Also, looking at the picture more - I think it's the gnoll's face that is too small - gives it a kind of pin head look. OK, I see what you were going for, I didn't get that from the picture - to me it looks like their skin is more like a...

    Looking for an Illustration

It's a black and white line drawing - the wizard was grinning and the caption read "I love this wand". It was about 4"x4".

    D&D 5E (2014) Art: Goblinoids, Take Two

Hi Klaus, I like the head/face of your hobgoblin & the way you made the bugbear more bear like, but those three all look too reptilian. It has something to do with the way the skin is drawn. As for the Gnoll - IMO the head should be larger, otherwise I quite like it.

    Looking for an Illustration

In one of the old D&D books there is an illustration of a wizard holding a wand with a mushroom cloud explosion in the background - does anyone else remember it and if so know what book it is in?

    D&D 5E (2014) Art: Goblinoids, Take Two

I'm pretty underwhelmed by these. The leonine/beauty & the beast look just doesn't work for me. That being said, I'd like 1) the goblin to look more scrawny 2) the Bugbear to look more hulking - so heavier/rounder - I do like the arms on this version though. 3) The hobgoblin to just look different.

D&D 4E Poll about your interest in 4e

Own 4E books, play in one 4E game and run another in addition to playing in 2 or 3 Pathfinder games. When 4E came out our DM at the time jumped to the new shiny causing the group to break up (only 2 of the 8 continued with 4E). It gives me a totally different gaming experience than the D&D I...

    Tyranny of Goblins Order Cards

I played this at GenCon and it was great fun. Quick to learn and play - I'm picking it up to play with my nephews.

    D&D 5E (2014) You can't necessarily go back

Cool. No more so than in the 4E games I've been playing for the last several years (Actually the MM3 math made the 5MWD even more prevalent). Nope, but sometimes when everyone is just agreeing with everyone else on a "how something is" it's good to be reminded that that may not be the case.

    D&D 5E (2014) You can't necessarily go back

I did not see it have the effect of getting PCs to full hit points after every fight. The encounters didn't happen in a vacuum - there often just wasn't time. 1d8+1 per round just isn't much when multiple PCs are down. I'm curious, was it common for a party to carry a large number of WoCLWs in...

    D&D 5E (2014) You can't necessarily go back

More of a point by point disagreement on the effect of WoCLWs on the game. I really didn't notice the last sentence when i posted. Having gone back and read it - WoCLWs did not make the game work/feel like the 4E games I've been playing since 4E came out. Also, WoCLWs were not a major element in...

    D&D 5E (2014) You can't necessarily go back

I've been following this thread (and the others like it) and just wanted to say this is pretty much completely opposite of what I experienced throughout 3/3.5E - and when I DMed I allowed every WoTC product to be used. I believe it to be more of a case that many people just fundamentally play...

    D&D 4E What 5E needs to learn from 4E

OK, I have to disagree. Solo boss fights in 4E was one of the things I disliked (probably the thing I disliked most). Perhaps my players were unusual, but solo boss fights were the thing that contributed most to novaing. It was all about doing as much damage as possible as fast as possible and...

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?
