Your 5 favourite movies... and why?

Currently these would be the top 5 - however they change periodically 1 Master & Commander - I like epic sea pictures, plus the carnage when the ships are firing on each other is spectacular 2 John Carpenter's The Thing - Suspense and creepiness done right 3 Captain America - He's the best...

X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer

I am flat out tired of Wolverine. The only positive I can see from this movie is we may get Cyclops back and see more of Colossus (if not in this movie, perhaps in a future one). Both of those characters I would prefer to see more of than Wolverine.

    IN REMEMBRANCE--2013

Kim Booth  passed away this morning - I couldn't have hoped for a better sister. I miss her very much. All of you with sister's should give them a call - someday you won't be able to.

Fighters vs. Spellcasters (a case for fighters.)

I'm curious what the PC skill modifiers were for the various rolls made. Would you be so kind as to post them? Also, when one player determines what is present in the game world (the baby in your example) how do you deal with the situation where that determination doesn't work well with 1)...

Serious question - are you going to invest in D&DNext?

I'll be picking it up cause it looks to be the edition that will bring all my geezer friends back to playing. Plus, my nephew will be starting in at the beginning. He's played 3E, Pathfinder, 4E and playtested D&DN - so far he has said he has the most fun with D&DN.

"Hide in Plain Sight" and "Camouflage" - WHO SAYS???

The reason a shadowdancer with HiPS can use stealth without cover or concealment is because the rules say she can . . . "Hide in Plain Sight (Su): A shadowdancer can use the Stealth skill even while being observed. As long as she is within 10 feet of an area of dim light, a shadowdancer can hide...

    Wowed by Gravity trailer

I agree that would be fantastic - I highly doubt that Gravity will be that :( in fact just the opposite I suppose...could be wrong, we'll have to wait and see.

    Wowed by Gravity trailer

I'm space savvy and while the special effects look great and I really like the idea of actually portraying the environmental effects realistically, the first thing the trailer made me think of was it's "Open Water" in space. It's just a disaster movie in space with good special effects, so it's...

D&D 5E (2014) Are DMs the Swing Vote?

You certainly come across as one. So much so that between you and 3 or 4 other poster's activity in those threads that I am interested in my infrequent posting has dropped to nearly non-existent posting.

Shadow Jump is breaking up friendships

That's one definition, but not the only one - shadow is also the area behind the object blocking the light (as in that area is in shadow).

    So, SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie? (SDCC)

Like I said, we have no choice - it's going to happen whether we like it or not is all I meant. True, but you ignored the other point that these so called good movies weren't as well liked by the audiences as by the critics. I find film critics to be fairly useless in suggesting to me how good...

    So, SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie? (SDCC)

I hadn't even heard of "The Town" until you mentioned it. Company Men was not financially successful and both Company Men and Hollywoodland were less well rated by audiences than by critics. Affleck is getting a lot of praise as a director, but not so much for his acting. I meant that we have no...

Shadow Jump is breaking up friendships

A shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object. It occupies all of the space behind an opaque object with light in front of it. So the shadowdancer's player is pretty much correct. You could be picky and say it's one contiguous shadow so...

    So, SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie? (SDCC)

The comic book guys I knew didn't freak that bad about the choice of Keaton - they were more concerned over Burton as director.

    So, SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie? (SDCC)

But what has he done in that intervening decade that really stands out? Just Argo, IMO, and really that was more about the story than anything he did on screen. So you have a decade of mediocre at best, with one high point - that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. I doubt there is any way for...

    Who's pumped for Pacific Rim?

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Saw it in 3D and was really happy that they didn't play the "this is 3D so everything has to come flying at the audience" tricks. The 3D just gave it depth that made it even more impressive to watch. I laughed when I heard the voice of GLaDOS, and when the one Kaiju...

Sell Me On a Level 23 Character

For simple, but tactical, I like my Human Brutal Rogue/Daggermaster/Prison of the Winds. With high Dex, a Graceful Dagger, a Wraith blade dagger, a War Ring and the right selection of feats and powers you can really leverage the sneak attack damage and lay on debilitating conditions to your targets.
