Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart?

I never finished it due to how Cortex licensing kept being obtuse and restrictive, but I did start something with the name Carts of Darkness inspired by Anthony Bourdain's street food episodes and Stephen Chow's God of Cookery : "This game is about a small community of food trucks and food...

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart?

Which is great for some but for others the idea Shadowdark rest on — dungeon crawl — is really boring. It's fine for oneshots but nothing substantial. Different games for different folks. Mythic Bastionland seems far more interesting to me, but that's also superniche. And that fine. Comparing...

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

Apart from Liam most of the Critical Role cast are still rather reaction-based in their play. I think Ashley was leaning into it more as Umbra went along, but most of the others are "tell us Matt!" I agree that Matt's retelling of deathblows doesn't help at all and they all have the potential to...

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

And if you're uncertain, ask your players about things that their characters would know. Don't do "what do you see in the chest?" but rather "you know this person you stumbled onto, you grew up together. Describe them from your point of view."

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

As if he wouldn't funnel it into an RPG summer camp so more kids could afford to go. Possibly with a grown-up version too. "D&D in a Castle" seems like a good gig if you can get it, and people who can afford it clearly don't struggle for money to throw at it. But I have a feeling Brennan has...

I'm not so sure. Ashley is also a "what would be most fun" kind of person so remaking the character would be vibe-based. I think Laura and Liam would have more issues with picking appropriate abilities and finding what maps to their character best when there's no 1-to-1 choices.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

Speaking only for myself, the sponsored actual plays had me go "oh cool, they're doing a campaign set in this frame! Wait, nevermind. It's just a oneshot. I'll pass."

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

I think the c3 opening session had the most views on their twitch history. But yeah, 140 session campaigns with four hours each will always mean they drop a lot in retention as it goes on. Especially if it doesn't speak to the viewer after a while.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

All sidecontent has a huge drop in viewers. Umbra had far better view numbers than Wildemount Wildlings which was 5e. Age of Umbra session one have better views than the first Exandria Unlimited: Downfall.

What's the bare minimum for a VTT?

Character sheets for players and NPCs, a way to share handouts, and make notes on a map. We mostly roll real dice, and we tend to do a lot theatre of the mind stuff so a scene where we can change images to fit the mood is great. Foundry is probably a bit overkill, but it's also the easiest to...

The Foundry one has full use of the SRD. The void things you need to add yourself since while they're free on the site, they're also currently not part of the SRD.

D&D General Critical Role Season 4 and the Ship of Theseus

The big problem with 4 is that the CR fandom is against change and that's setting them up for failure no matter what they do. Their viewing pleasure goes before the players and their ability to rest. Critical Role has more hours than the One Piece anime. That's a wild amount. Matt isn't the only...

Brennan Lee Mulligan to GM Critical Role Campaign 4

That's a GM thing. The whole only face appropriate monsters are there in newer D&D as well, it's up to the GM to handle if they want to go outside of that. (And if you're uncertain of how a game runs you tend to stick with the guidelines, be it Combat Ratings or Battle Points.) That said, I do...

If I read the book and then look at Matt's encounters, the feeling I get is that he should have gotten more adversaries. They seem understaffed for the amount of players — especially since solos are "only" elite and not real solos.
