D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Is there any way to get new UA stuff without a D&D Beyond account? For some reason I can't sign up and it's very annoying.

What are you reading in 2025?

Currently reading Neal Stephenson's Termination Shock. As usual, his work is pretty dense, though this one isn't as dense as, say, Cryptonomicon. It's a big fat book with a lot of moving parts. I'm loving it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Chance for a warlord?

Temporary hit points and raising a pc's current and maximum hps are both good ways around this.

    Arrive AT or Arrive TO?

Arrive at. I also find constructions such as "different to" very weird- to me, it's "different from".

D&D General Lego Sandbox vs Open Sandbox (and other sandbox discussion)

It seems like any stuff that you have pre-built in your setting, such as a pre-existing dungeon or an area that has detailed politics, leans into lego sandboxing by this definition. So I guess, by dint of having lots of details in my setting worked out, I lean toward lego sandboxing. But I think...

D&D General Would You Play High Level (12-15);Wiith Pre Generated Characters? Mostly 5.0/5.5 but theoretically any edition.

As a one-shot or limited run, sure. For a regular long term campaign, I'd probably decline- I want to make my own character. I am fine with the DM giving me whatever equipment, though.

D&D General How Long Did You Play Only D&D Before Trying Another Game

A couple of years, then we tried Gamma World, Star Frontiers, and Paranoia in pretty rapid succession.

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

I guess it's a matter of taste, but I find it awful. Not just because it's an insult to the 'real' Castle Greyhawk, and to Gygax, but because the adventures are terribly disconnected, and for the most part are more focused on being dumb jokes than on being actual serviceable adventures. YMMV...

D&D 5E (2014) For those playing 2014 5e, how are you reacting to the 2024 update?

I play in multiple groups and run several as well. My attitude: I think the revision has a lot of power creep and includes a bunch of changes that are neither necessary nor improvements. On the other hand, there are some changes that are good. It's a mixed bag. But overall, I'm not a fan of the...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

I have mixed feelings about this now. It doesn't seem like JG had any intention of paying those debts themselves, so all Goodman is doing is making the backers whole, since the system is set up to basically not pay Goodman any money. I understand where you're coming from; but this is a debt...

What are must read short stories?

Stephen King's Survivor Type. It's about a surgeon who survives a plane crash and ends up on a deserted island and has to survive. And it's bone-chilling.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Some of the money they spent to do so went to her, so yes, they did.

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

Most monsters were literally the same in 2e, just with a stat block with more information. There were a few broad exceptions- the various fiends, dragons, and (IIRC) giants- but overall, the monsters were mostly just expanded, not actually changed (much).

D&D General What modules have you reused for multiple campaigns

By that definition, I've reused- Village of Hommlet Temple of Elemental Evil Keep on the Borderlands Ghost Tower of Inverness Against the Giants Keep on the Shadowfell Tomb of Horrors Expedition to the Barrier Peaks Secret of Bone Hill The first module in Age of Worms (can't remember the title...

D&D General What modules have you reused for multiple campaigns

It's fantastic, with one of the most epic conclusions of any module I have run.

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

That's fair. I'm not a fan of a lot of the changes in 5.5 either. I'm happier with 5.0 or 5e Classic or whatever you want to call it.
