Rumours: WotC Announcement Today; Insider Email Reveals Plans

Well, if they are your 10 & 12 year old kids, you should be feeding them. :-)

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Sword and Sorcery had updated is Necropolis to 3.5 only 4 years before. I don't mind he didn't like the OGL. Without him we probably wouldn't have had this hobby.

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

I really, really like Green Ronin's 3.5 (third era) stuff. We never would have had that if there was no OGL.

D&D General Refresh my memory on the lethality of 3rd ed

1E was definitely deadlier. I had a magic user die writing a spell into his spell book.

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

Fair enough. I have a boatload of D20 in boxes and haven't located it all. I ended up buying PDFs of stuff I already own that I wanted to use in the current campaign I'm DMing (can I call myself the DM or does WotC own that appellation? :) ), so I'll eventually find out how much my leather...

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

I think there is a happy place in between chasing the market and creating what you're passionate about.

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

Any D20 stuff sitting around is dead stock now. They should just discount it 90% and if that doesn't work put them on eBay for a dollar plus shipping or give it a thrift store. There was a game store in northern VA that closed a few years ago. They never put anything on sale that wasn't...

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Ok, I do give the designers the benefit of the doubt, but a guess is still a guess.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

You don't know and I don't know. In absence of anything definitive about how the 1.1 idea came to be, we won't know for certain until somebody there at WotC defends it publicly now or writes a book years from now.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

And where did I state companies are accepting of internal criticism? Sure, we're not going to hear from anybody inside WotC who disagreed with the decision. It doesn't mean they weren't all for it. Edit: it also doesn't rule out the staff coming up with the idea.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Have you ever heard of MCI? Do you know where their product "Friends and Family" came from? It came from one of the staff. It was not a top down decision from McGowan and his executives. Every business I've ever worked for encouraged everyone employed there to come up with ideas to generate...

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

It matters to me. How do we know the staff didn't come up with the idea and present it to management? I'll blame them if they were on board with it.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Do we have any idea what 'Perkins' thinks about revoking the original OGL?

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

Eventually you run out of people to sell your core rulebooks to. If you want to keep your folks employed you have to look at creating new editions of the game. I don't begrudge them that ever, but I do have a problem with repealing the OGL everybody has been using. It's silly in a way in that...

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

That and if he had created an OGL for D&D back before TSR bought him out/sent him packing, he could have kept on making D&D products for sale instead of Dangerous Journeys (or as I call it, 'The Game of Unpronounceable Words' which in turn got crushed by his exit agreement.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

I've purchased a lot of wizkids minis in the past year. I won't purchase any more from them as long as they have a D&D license...assuming the original OGL is invalidated by WotC. I'll let wizkids know too.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

I downloaded everything in my drivethrurpg library that had the OGL this past weekend. Took a while.
