D&D General WotC is at it again

Bards Anonymous would be the logical choice.

D&D General Ben Riggs interviews Fred Hicks and Cam Banks, then shares WotC sales data.

I think MtG is pretty important to HASBRO, but the D&D books? Not so much. Video games an other non-game entertainment do have the potential to have significant impact on the company's bottom line.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

Which is why the containers weigh so much. Problem solved. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

I always envisioned part of the cost (and weight) being special containers if I thought about it. Acid flasks are extra heavy because they act like grenades - inert and hard to break while carrying but pull a pin and the protective container has to be negated somehow. But I still think the best...

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

They didn't do a scientific calculation, they came up with a number that works for gaming purposes. A potion contains 1 ounce of liquid unless specifically stated otherwise because that's how general descriptions work. What are people trying to prove? More importantly, why?

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

I think people are really, really overthinking this. No adventuring gear weighs less than 1/2 pound, the weight is rounded up. They simply rounded up even more with the vial of acid.

These are financial reports which are held to certain legal standards. D&D is such a minor aspect of their business I see no reason for them to be deceptive about what's going on. I don't see any contradiction in what I've said ... we have no idea how well the game is selling. As long as people...

I don't trust it or distrust HASBRO's financial reports. I just don't see the point of assuming and proclaiming over and over and over again that it's all spin and they're hiding something especially when the only thing I see spin on has nothing to do with the actual books being produced.

I give up. I don't really care how well any company that makes a product I use and enjoy is doing other than hoping they will continue to support the product. I also think anything HASBRO says whether it's positive or neutral people will insinuate negativity as an automatic reaction. I don't...

I think there's a big difference between standard spin and "spinning the crap" out of it because that implies they're hiding issues. My impression is that the game is doing fine but barely registers. The spin is all about expanding into things like video games.

You just gave an example of exactly what I was saying. They aren't lying because that could get them into trouble they're just "spinning the crap out of their statements". Why would they need to do that if the sales were meeting expectations? If it's doing okay there's no need for spin.

D&D General Ben Riggs interviews Fred Hicks and Cam Banks, then shares WotC sales data.

Yes ... the indifference that has people talking about it constantly bringing it up and looking for any reason to say that the 2024 books aren't selling well. Meanwhile HASBRO isn't actually committing fraud by deceiving investors, it's just that anything positive is only "spin" that can't in...

So we had making up number of players and assuming that only 1 in 5 people at the table buy the PHB. Now it's taking the statement that the 2024 PHB sold more copies on a month than the 2014 PHB to mean ... I think ... that the 2024 PHB has peaked and its all going to be downhill from here...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

OneDnD was also never supposed to be the name of the version. It was a label for all the initiatives going on at the time. Companies use labels like that all the time. What's funny is that they tried to avoid putting a version label on the game but everybody was calling it 5e. Now once again...

2024 D&D Core Rulebooks Off to "Strongest-Ever" Start for D&D Books

It may just be my experience that almost everyone I've run games for eventually buy a PHB. Then again some people buy all 3 even when they don't ever DM. Nowadays most of my players use my DndBeyond account unless they also DM but that obviously has been recent.

2024 D&D Core Rulebooks Off to "Strongest-Ever" Start for D&D Books

So wait ... now we're guessing at the number of players, assuming that only the DM buys the PHB (not my experience) to prove ... what exactly? The stretches to create negative spin is entertaining in a way I suppose.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

I just think a potion of healing being 4 times the size of any other potion is silly and not justified.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I remember years ago back playing Living Grayhawk (3e), there was a casual mention of a lesbian couple. One of the players was extremely upset because this was supposed to be a "family friendly" game. He found that mere acknowledgement of openly gay people objectionable. I would hope we had...

Wait ... D&D is not a reality simulator? I'm shocked, shocked I say.
