Circle Casting Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun

Even if NPCs didn't have spell slots (they do), any NPC or monster that casts a spell in my game will qualify for this. We don't have the exact text yet of course, but the only reason the MM doesn't spell out spell slots is for simplicity while running them. If we can't have evil cultists...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

Never let "facts" get in the way of a good conspiracy theories! Even if the results are amazing, that will just be proof that it hasn't collapsed ... yet.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I see people using dust of disappearance on a pretty regular basis to make the party invisible, we just used it in yesterday's game to free some captives and bypass an expected combat. The limitation with invisibility is that if you attack or cast a spell you become visible and just because you...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

So you aren't the one posting thing like this? Because that sure as heck sounds like you aren't talking about just your game, you're telling someone else they're being a bad no-good DM because they put limits on what the characters can do. Meanwhile you're just not going to have brooms of...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I was in a campaign with a guy who wanted to ride a broom while using a shield and casting spells with somatic components or attacking with a weapon. The DM saud no. Had another asking about putting stirrups on ao they could use a bow, although they may have gotten the idea from critical roll...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I don't think it's boring to allow people to enjoy their character even if that includes getting items you find boring. Nobody is dismissing anything, we just disagree that it's a problem. If you want to make custom items have fun with it. I don't see the need. I have my solutions that worked...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

It's all relative. Broom of Flying: No limit on usage, can send it up to a mile away and summon it on demand. Fly speed of 50 if carrying 200 pounds or less, after that speed is 30. There is no upper limit on weight it can carry. Attach this thing to a boat and you have a flying ship...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

They still get unlimited out of combat flight which can be incredibly useful. In a pinch they can still use it in combat even if there is a certain level of risk. Meanwhile the boots have limited usage (in 2024, up to 4 times a day for 1 hour) and require attunement which I think is a decent...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

So what's the alternative? There's nothing in the rules stopping a character from adding a platform to the broom and surfing 24x7. The surfboard was a bit facetious but nothing stops a saddle from being added. I think the item is vastly overpowered for it's level and lack of attunement if I...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I've had people argue that they can attack with a bow or use a shield and a weapon while riding a broom. Not really any different than standing on it like a surfboard, the rules don't really say anything at all about restrictions on how the character rides the broom. Use it for overland...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

So just let every character buy a relatively cheap broom, have permanent flying with no restrictions? Why wouldn't ever character do this as soon as they have the gold? Why not just have an entire party using the broom like surfboards, after all there's nothing saying they can't! As long as...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Ride? Maybe. Use a bow? That requires a whole lot of training to do even on a horse. I see casting a spell with somatic components just as hard. But that's just my take, having some of the characters flying around on brooms is just not something I want to have to account for on a regular basis.

    D&D 5E (2024) Why doesn't D&D have fire arrows?

As others have said, flame arrows are not particularly useful against individual opponents, they're used for setting objects on fire. On the other hand I made a flametongue bow that adds 1d6 fire damage to any arrow it shoots because I'm not overly concerned about real world logic. If you...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

So sorry sir/madam you have to sell at half of what you paid and you need to pay a commission to the seller. Of course you can show proper provenance and history of sales? No problem, that will just be a small fee for a title search check. Oh, and are you part of the MIRU (Magic Item Resale...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

My house rule is that you need to keep one hand holding the broom. If you cast a spell with somatic components it's an acrobatics check. That and I curate my list of items for sale, items that provide flight aren't available until higher levels.
