From summer of 1986 until about 2000....so fourteen years, minus a few years while I was at university and didn't have any time to play games. I wrote more about it in other threads, but the gist of it is that I started with BECM, bounced off of 2E, and then went all-in on 3.X in 2000...

I cut my teeth on the old Red Box rules, so I tend to think anything that came afterward as "modern." Things like: Ascending AC and attack bonuses Race and Class are separate character options Multiclassing Milestone leveling Grid mechanics, battle mats, and minis Limitless magic/cantrips...

I continue to be the worst. Some latest developments: Nobody wanted to chip in for the new Roll20 materials for 5E 2024. Therefore, we voted to stay with the 2014 rules. Since I'm the DM, this is clearly my fault. Therefore, I wouldn't let a character drink a Potion of Speed as a bonus action...

I think it would be bad form to start a copy of a thread that a moderator has already closed. And I worry that restricting all comments to [+] only could skew the "edition experience" votes. Buuuut, I'll check with the moderators and see.

Like the argument between folks complaining about THAC0 being too complicated, and other folks explaining how they're wrong, this thread is eternal.

I wonder if their purpose is two-fold: to confirm your identity, but also to alert the AI algorithm to start scraping data. Since you've just confirmed the data packets are coming from a human and not from another bot.

It really does. I don't know what it is about That Edition, but it's been out of print for more than a decade and people are still aching to fight each other over it. It's still somehow too soon.
