D&D 5E (2024) Odyssey of the Dragonlords Remastered Edition Kickstarter is LIVE

That always make me think childish rather than adult. There are things that can make content appropriate for adults only, but pictures of boobies aren't amongst them.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

What make you think ones and zeros will last? Or paper for that matter. Everything is ephemeral. So long as it lasts as long as I'm interested in using it that's not a problem. Might be an issue for historians, but that's something they can sort out for themselves.

D&D General Does anyone else starting to feel like FR: HoF & FR: AiF were starved of resources because of the Core Books

This. All this is in the public domain, and WotC are well aware of that and try as much as possible to avoid reprinting it. The new books even point readers to FRwiki. Also, WotC are interested in creating places to adventure. They are interested in locations that lean in to certain types of...

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

Here is the thing: nothing in VGR is required to run a game in Ravenloft. Curse of Strahd managed perfectly well without it for years. So can a follow-up. Adventures don’t go heavily into player options. One or two perhaps. Oh, and dhampirs are not undead, that’s kind of the point.

    Godzilla minus Zero teaser

Minus One is a great movie, but it’s more a serious movie about post-war Japan, and what it’s like to be on the losing side generally, than it is about giant monsters.

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

I think Athlete is much better than mystic. But my personal preference would be to axe the class and have an unarmed combat fighter subclass instead.

Dhampir and Other Species To Be Included in Astarion's Book of Hungers

Even if there is a Ravenloft "something" - possible, but far from certain, it's more likely to be an adventure than a book of species. I wouldn't expect dhampr in anything but the vampire product. It's not like they are massively popular.

"You meet a mysterious stranger in a tavern." Origins?

Jim Hawkins is given a treasure map by a mysterious stranger in an inn. But there is no reason to suppose those diverse authors were familiar with the others*. Writing something commonplace is something they could do on their own. *I certainly would be very confident in saying Tolkien had...

Spoilers Hey look, there's a new Robin Hood show coming with Sean Bean as the Sheriff!

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that the use of towers for hunting was a couple of hundred years later. What got me was why didn’t the poachers drop everything and lie low until the nobles had gone? I think it’s closer to so bad it’s good territory.

"You meet a mysterious stranger in a tavern." Origins?

So, what’s the origin of the trope “character eats food”? It’s perfectly reasonable to engage by pointing out an idea as clearly and demonstrably wrong, despite all the falsehoods that are propagated by modern media.

"You meet a mysterious stranger in a tavern." Origins?

Something taken from reality does not have a singular origin. It's like asking "what is the origin of the trope of a character eating lunch?" Doing something people do normally isn't a trope at all. If you want some characters to meet in your work of fiction, the chances are you are going to...

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

This follows the real world history of Egypt. Tombs were often robbed within a generation of them being occupied, sometimes by the original workers who built the tombs. There was the death (by torture) penalty if caught, but the wealth was worth the risk. There were people who made a profession...

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

It isn’t. It’s very limited in its ability to track plot variables. Which made The attempt to make a sand box in lost valley so bad. But the campaign in the second expansion is a little better than the original campaign.

"You meet a mysterious stranger in a tavern." Origins?

Again, a reflection of reality, not something that was imagined in fiction then copied. Aside from leisure, before modern job interviews, the pub was where most people would go to find a job.

"You meet a mysterious stranger in a tavern." Origins?

Is "meeting in a tavern" actually traceable to the Gygaxian game, or did it just emerge spontaneously in many home games (where people, as in my case, were meeting in a pub to play D&D)?

"You meet a mysterious stranger in a tavern." Origins?

Long before the 1970s! You are aware that “Roman times” was before the 7th century? My understanding is that in 1st century Rome, most food and drink vendors served to the streets, so if you wanted a more private meeting the bath house would be the place to go. Societies have always had...

Sure there is, it's between The Ranger's Tale and the Sorcerer's Tale.

D&D 5E (2014) What Is the Iconic Artwork Of 5E?

Yup. This was the first piece of 5e cover art that I actually liked. And probably the 1st D&D art I've liked since 2e. Not only is it an art style I hate, it's a deliberate imitation of an art style I hate, not even original.
