D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 3: Magazines

I only really have collections of the Strategic Review/Dragon and Dungeon (including the Dungeon/Polygon issues). Never really got into the others I suppose. Novels are what I'm really interested in. Those are books that I really got into. One item I'd really be interested in if it is...

I think I like this one better

Other D&D Variant What is your favorite version of D&D offshoot/D20 fantasy today? Tell us why it is the best!

Castles & Crusades - It really is the easiest to convert to any D&D version besides 4e. It's extremely easy to convert 3.X adventure to C&C due to how they are based, but at the same time 5e uses a similar math in relation to skill use and most of the classes combat hitting power (with the...

Xiangqi. Depends on what you define as a Bishop. Technically both Shogi and Xiangqi have bishops.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

That actually reminds me of a great point though. If the OP or others want a game version which forces people to use different weapons (rather than just relying on one favored weapon or so), play 3.5 edition. Different monsters had different immunities and so you'd have to carry different...

D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 2: Settings

What about Ghostwalk. I think there was only one volume ever published. 224 pages. Edit: Ah, beaten on the mention by @Echohawk I'd be going based off things officially in print. I wouldn't include those that only came out in PDF or digital form (at least currently, today. The future may...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

That's a very strange wording you have for Doom...or the Doom series of games. I don't recall the weapons breaking all the time in Doom though you can run out of ammo... Or maybe you meant Counter-Strike or Half-Life...same principle as Doom though with weapons and ammo.

D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 2: Settings

I feel that without including the TSR novels for each line, it does it a deep disservice for how much it would actually cost. If someone was that much of a completest to collect all that material during TSR's time period, they surely would have been also fervently collecting the novels at the...

D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 1: Editions

The initial run of 3e PHB's were $20. They did quite a massive run (though rather quickly went through them) and kept the price down due to this for that first year or so.

D&D General Should the third Forgotten Realms DLC have actually been set in the Forgotten Realms?

What about an option of...don't care? Nah...but probably one that says...I'm not saying yes, but I don't have a problem with what they doing. Meaning...It wouldn't have been bad to have another FR specific supplemental DLC in it's place, but this DLC isn't a bad thing either.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Look Ma! I just got that +4 Legendary Sword I've heard about in Legends. I bear the fabled Brecker Sword itself! Wielded by the fabled Grimwulf, handed down to his son the fabled Garnswammer who slew the two headed Demi Deity in his epic battle against the Hordes of Darkness. Retrieved from...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

Sorry, I try to respond to those who have direct comments to me, but there is only one of me, I don't spend all my time here (I have other things I am involved in), and I only have so much time. The thread literally goes quicker than I really have time to respond to. I have time to pop it up...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 D&D Starter Set - Your turn to design

For 5e (2014), that was called the Essentials Kit which you bought and played after you used the Starter Set. It didn't go up to level 12/14, but it also didn't end at level 3. It went up to level 6. You also had the actual Basic set of rules, but you had to download them and they were...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

They aren't defined in the Read this first booklet which tells you to punch tokens and gather them up and stuff. They do not have a Section which is labeled about Hitpoints, and they do not have it in the Glossary as a term in case you don't know what they are. They are discussed in combat...

    Greenland 2: Migration

They had a movie called Greenland with Gerard Butler? Now they have a sequel? I never even heard of the first one! How did that actually do? I imagine it must have made some sort of profit if they made a second one. I never heard of the first one though before today.

Fans of long series of big novels, sound off!

Not a big reader of the Giant Novels anymore, or reader of big series, but I can name a few. My favorite, and the only one I'm currently reading is not really a Novel series, the books (Except for the last one which is extremely long) are not excessively big, but it is a LARGE series. Lone...

Spoilers Hey look, there's a new Robin Hood show coming with Sean Bean as the Sheriff!

I'm not positive but I think it may be in reference to a Video Game called Alan Wake.

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

That's my conclusion. The tokens and all the pretty stuff is not really worth it for the New player and doesn't really help as much as some may think. I feel this is more a set for those who are experienced as well as to draw people to D&D beyond (and that makes sense, as a business Beyond is...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

@BruceWright Thanks for pointing it out. It's not under Hitpoints though...wonder why? It's not at the portion where they actually needed to know what they were in order to utilize that information. With an experienced player...sure...it might work. If they watched the video...sure...it...
