Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Pot, meet Kettle. Kettle, meet Pot. I'm sure you have a lot in common.

D&D General Ben Riggs interviews Fred Hicks and Cam Banks, then shares WotC sales data.

Yes. It's pretty spot on as an analogy. And the people who do improv adventures would be like an improv jazz odyssey/jam session. Music teachers, mentors who share techniques, wahwah pedals, filters, custom pickups, whammy bars, fuzzboxes, everything else that helps a musician produce the music...

Critical Role Tell me the selling points of Tal'Dorei / Wildemount, without mentioning Critical Role, Matt Mercer, etc.

Yeah, not gonna do that because, quite frankly, one of the nice things going for it is the campaign setting already has an audience of fans out there. That's a positive network effect that will make it easier for any DM picking up the setting books to recruit enthusiastic and interested players...

D&D 5E (2024) If D&D 2024 Had Been Radically Different, Would You Have Stuck With 5E

But it's not just me involved in the decision. That game may be even more attuned to my preferences than 5e, but that might not be the case for my players. And 5e is close enough to my preferences that I'm willing to forego an edition even closer to my preferences if my players prefer 5e. So...

D&D General Forgotten Realms: Real World Gods Still Present in the Old Empires

Well, present in more than just the Old Empires as well. There's a handful that's always been part of the FR's main setting.

D&D General Ben Riggs interviews Fred Hicks and Cam Banks, then shares WotC sales data.

When you're got an entertainment product that's meeting your needs and doing a reasonably good job of it and, more importantly, you like it, major innovation for the sake of innovation becomes overrated.

Ken Burnside on how screwed Asmodee is

It does, in some languages. But even where variations on milliard exists, apparently "thousand millions" comes up in common usage and remains a correct notation. So the source of Ken Burnside's info and how it may have been translated is still relevant.

Ken Burnside on how screwed Asmodee is

Maybe. But if the source of that figure was originally French (or one of several other European countries) where long scale numbers are a normal feature, 1,200 million would be correct notation rather than 1.2 (or even 1.200) billion. In long scale, you don't get to a billion until you've got a...

Ken Burnside on how screwed Asmodee is

The problem could be where the source of the 1,200 million value originally came from that Ken Burnside included in his facebook post - because there are places on the globe where 1,200 million is NOT 1.2 billion. Long scale vs short scale numbers.

D&D 5E (2014) See Invisibility: awareness of Invisibility

If see invisible is only making it evident which creatures are under the effects of some kind of invisibility magic, it's hardly giving out the equivalent of detect magic.

Do you use "voice acting" when you play?

I do a little of it, usually as DM and usually to emphasize something about the NPC's character. I use my own voice and just change up tone, expression, and cadence a bit for most NPCs and my own PCs.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

The thing here is - if you want to arm the goblins with short bows, use the goblin warrior stat block instead of the goblin minion one. Changing their weapons can change the amount of damage they're putting out and thus can contribute to changing their CR (in this case from CR 1/8 to CR 1/4)...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

Are you KIDDING me? I've been playing this game for over 40 years. I AM an old customer. And I can tell you that NOBODY is ignoring me. I'm swimming in nostalgia-oriented products from WotC and have been all the way through the 5e run. And that's great. I'm digging it. And I'm all for WotC being...

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

Which is great until your cleric is down, out of spell slots, or is tied up and busy with something else. But even if just looking at just potions of healing, there are any number of reasons quaffing that potion might be a preferred or even necessary thing to do. Once you also add in other...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I hope you see the problem here, right? If you try to be inclusive of more customers, other customers are treating that as excluding or insulting them. It's impossible to be ideologically neutral in that situation because one segment of the customers is making it impossible to do so.
