    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

The alchemist is a crap subclass. As I said, most of the artificer is in the subclass, and all the other choices are far better than alchemist.

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

Pretty much the whole of the artificer is in the subclass, considering them without is disingenuous. And spells are a secondary class feature. Their magic gear, with may be focused on offence, defence or support, is their main thing.

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

But in practical terms, the distinction is meaningless. They both go round attacking stuff with magically enhanced weapons.

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

Not really how it plays. It’s an expert in the same way that a ranger is an expert.

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

More like people don’t know what to do with them. It’s like “omg this class is so underpowered, but omg repeating crossbows with infinite ammo are too overpowered and I’m not going to allow them”.

    D&D 5E (2024) The Great Wizard Extinction.

Humans get two, or species (e.g. githzeri) subclass, core class for warlocks. Not free, but relatively cheap. And not having to make a con save. And I’ve seen plenty of casters dieing from “just damage”. Smart enemies focus fire on them.

They are both first level spells. Neither cares about your casting stat. They are both strong spells. They can both be picked up by any caster for minimal cost.

Depends. And Wizards don’t get Bless, except when they do.

D&D General What version of D&D are you playing?

I just had a very nice Indian meal for 2 for £66 ($88) including tip. Not in London though.

Doesn’t matter if you go to bed with some slots unused. Better than not having them when needed. A Shield for when you are attacked by assassins during the night is always handy. No one is being graded on efficiency.

Often the best option is don’t bother wasting a spell slot on an easy fight.

    D&D 5E (2024) The Great Wizard Extinction.

Yeah but when has strict adherence to the facts worked!? My opinion is Bless is a good spell but is not always the best option - well balanced in fact. Although it is somewhat hampered by my players forgetting they have it.

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

Yes, I would say that. And a fighter who fights with magic is the same as a fighter that doesn’t use magic, aside from fluff that is easily changed. Elric fights with magic, but the magic enhances his otherwise poor strength. So it can be built into his stats. I prefer the four class model...

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

So the choice of new class is a) a cleric who works without magic or b) a fighter who works by magic.

D&D General Whom has used the Egg of Coot?

You can post about about him as much as you like. But you need to explain who he is and what it’s about. Something like “I saw Mr Welsh posting about the Egg of Coot. Has anyone else seen this or used this character from the early days of D&D”. That way people will know what you are talking about.

D&D General Whom has used the Egg of Coot?

No one is saying otherwise. But he is not sufficiently well known to quote without explanation and expect people to know what you are talking about.

    D&D 5E (2024) What should the 15th Class be?

Yup, we should be bolder with what we have. The tattoo monk is ever so conventional and timid. Also, players and DMs should be more open to refluffing. If it has the mechanics you want but the lore isn’t, then change the lore, it breaks nothing.

D&D General What version of D&D are you playing?

Grief! I thought our inflation was bad!
