    Shaman question

PH2 pg. 220: "You determine line of sight normally, but you determine line of effect from the conjuration." That's the general rule. So if this was a Bigby's spell or something, you would be attacking with a -5. Here's the specific rule (same page): "If a spirit power includes “spirit” in its...

Are skill bonuses on races considered racial bonuses?

...and what they want is always right, right? I'm not looking for needless symmetry, it's just that I'm not a die-hard RAW-lawyer, and so when I notice a discrepancy I see that as interesting and perhaps an indication that the RAI are not always being clearly expressed. In this case...

Are skill bonuses on races considered racial bonuses?

Some furious rationalization going on there. ;) "Everything is core", remember? I don't think it's possible to say that rules in PH1 are more correct than anything published later. Your faith in the ability of D&D designers to choose the perfect wording for every rule is touching, but it...

    Swallow, too deadly?

What do you mean, an African or a European Swallow?

Staff Wizards and Weapon Focus Staff

That's because there is no such feat in the rules. But it seems to be a more and more common houserule, since the weapon focus ruling is blatantly unfair to casters with a non-weapon implement, and the elemental damage feats are just plain stupid.

What are the most worthless feats (Heroic)?

At Paragon, you can combo with Lasting Frost to make it affect anything. But at Heroic, yeah, it's pointless.

What are the most worthless feats (Heroic)?

The Fighter in my campaign gets some mileage out of Long Jumper. But that's only because he refuses to carry a missile weapon. Instead he jumps up and smacks fliers with his axe... My pet peeve is all the elemental damage spells. Not that they're useless in themselves, but the prerequisites...

    D&D 4E (4E) Swordbond Travel Times

If it took time, that time would have been defined. So it has to be instant.

    How do Iron Armbands work?

I'd say he's probably got expertise and focus confused. Having said that, in my game I've houseruled in an Implement Focus feat. What about the elemental damage ones? No great loss, since they're probably the worst designed feats in the game right now. Should any player in my game actually...

Spoiler, and question for Thunderspire labyrinth....

I never assumed they made much money off the Hall. I think mostly they just encourage people to hang out there because it provides them with a meat shield. They're Evil, remember? ;) Their income is probably generated from their own expeditions to ruins only they have the power to assault...

A couple abilities in Martial Power seem WAY too good...

Of course, that is simpler, but it leads to Invigorating THP being cumulative. Which is precisely the problem I wanted to avoid, it being unbalanced, overpowered and a really really cheap trick. :-S

A couple abilities in Martial Power seem WAY too good...

The BRV makes Temp HP more of a headache than before, but some of it is down to interpretation. Pre-MP it was rather simple. THP never stacked, so whenever you gained THP and already had some, you simply asked which was the higher number: your old ones or the new ones, and that became you new...

    Shaman questions

Unlike a conjuration, though, it can be attacked and affected. I assume that if someone wanted to take a swipe at a flaming sphere that was rolling past, they could. It just wouldn't accomplish anything.

    Swordmage too weak?

Sure, that works. Encounter powers, every last one of them. I'm still not sure you've understood that CC only lasts until the end of the fighter's next turn, meaning that in a long fight the multimarking will only be active for as many rounds as you have powers to activate it. Or in your own...

    Swordmage too weak?

High crit for a d12 weapon gives +0.325 damage at heroic tier. +0.65 with a Jagged weapon. At epic tier, with the jagged sword or the mastery feat, it's up at nearly 2 whole points. Big whoop. I suppose that for players who go this route it's more about the thrill of the occasional...

    Swordmage too weak?

2 people in a row using Fullblades? I'm curious as to why. Compared to spending that proficiency feat on bastard sword and wielding it 1H, you're gaining +1 damage at the price of -2 AC. Heck, if your DM lets you get away with the hand-switching versatile trick, the damage would be equal...

    Swordmage too weak?

Your reasoning is still a little twisted. Let's straighten a few things out. An advantage of the Fighter's Combat Challenge is that it doesn't take an action. Aegis is a minor action. Usually spending this is not an issue, there's not a whole lot of other interesting actions vying for the minor...
