D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

For example, movement in Daggerheart looks kinda weird to me coming from D&D. If I understand correctly, the distance a character can move is only defined by the battle map and is not defined outside of battle, and in battle a character can either move up to 30 feet while taking an action or, if...

D&D 5E (2024) Is There A New Sheriff in Town?

They seem like different enough games that the only way I see Daggerheart eclipsing D&D is if it turns out more people prefer a game like Daggerheart to D&D.

D&D 5E (2024) Man I hate the organization of the 2024 Monster Manual

The good and bad thing about monsters in the MM2025 is that monsters get enough lore to fill page space after the statblock and illustration are accounted for. In the case of devils, many got more lore than MM2014 because there was more page space devoted to them. Barbed Devils go from minions...

    D&D 5E (2024) Lamordia Book Speculation

I know it included several extra planets for the Spelljammer tie-in release, and I've always been curious if they were made-up entirely for the game or were based on cut content from the Spelljammer box set.

D&D 5E (2024) Gunslinger Class (from Valda's Spire of Secrets) on DnD Beyond!

Can you provide some more details? I'm curious how this compares to Matt Mercer's take on it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Chance for a warlord?

Tales of the Valiant has put out a preview for their own take on the Warlord, called the Vanguard: https://koboldpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/ToV-Players-Guide-2-Preview-FINAL.pdf I'm pretty neutral on the magic banners, but most of the Stratagems are what I would expect from a Warlord...

D&D General Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked Is A Multiplayer Co-Op Tactical Video Game

Looks neat, though I guess the mechanics won't be terribly close to D&D proper.

    D&D 5E (2024) Chance for a warlord?

I theory crafted a Warlord-like Fighter build a while back that heavily relies on the Knight of Solamnia background and Feats (it even includes some nonmagical healing), but a base class that had these things instead of needing DM permission to use a setting-specific background would be nice...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

I like it, but as soon as I saw it cast spells I knew a large portion of the people who really want psionics would balk no matter what the rest of the class is like. It definitely seems way more focused than the Mystic, which has a huge and diverse grab bag of optional features that probably...

D&D General WizKids Issues Refund for Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set

Yeah, these don't seem worse than standard WizKids paint jobs to me. You're usually going to be seeing them from a distance on a table, not examining them under a magnifying glass, so the quality is generally good enough for me.

D&D General FINALLY!!! Dragon Delves to include Quickstart Guides for each adventure.

That NPC reference tables weren't always the standard was a mystery to me.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else dislike the "keyword" style language of 5.24?

I am so happy with the reduction of "natural language" in Revised 5E. It drove me crazy whenever a DM would ask what a player's spell did and I'd have to sit through a recitation of the flavor text and an overly wordy description. That is perhaps my least favorite thing about 5E 2014. For...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is no one talking about THE BOOK OF MANY THINGS?

I just didn't get it was because it was outside my price range for a D&D product.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

In my experience the threat of death in 5E depends on if there is a healer (especially a cleric) to get someone back up when dying. My only TPK in running 5E so far happened on a session the Cleric player couldn't make, and the closest I came to a TPK otherwise happened when the healer was down...

D&D 5E (2014) 2024 Monster Manual has better lore than 2014 Monster Manual

Part of me is hoping the paucity of lore for aarakocra, azers, and bullywugs in the Monster Manual means it will be filled in by introducing them all as PC species for the revised edition. None of them seem like that much of a stretch for PC species.

D&D 5E (2014) 2024 Monster Manual has better lore than 2014 Monster Manual

Volo's and Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes got most of its lore heavily errata'd and discontinued for sale, though. Part of the disappointment with the reduced amount of lore comes from it being removed and replaced with nothing.

Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment to Publish Exodus TTRPG Based on Upcoming Exodus Video Game

So if this is a 5E-variant being put out by a subsidiary of WotC why isn't this game higher profile? This thread is the most I've ever seen about it.

D&D 5E (2024) Is Combat Tedious on Purpose?

When I play D&D I find that the amount of time I wait for my turn to come back up is most important to whether I enjoy a combat, so as both a player and DM I pride myself on resolving my turn as quickly as possible. To do that I've found that a custom user interface that puts all the needed...

D&D 5E (2014) 2024 Monster Manual has better lore than 2014 Monster Manual

I had compared and posted my impressions in another thread.

D&D 5E (2014) 2024 Monster Manual has better lore than 2014 Monster Manual

I liked using duergar because of their included lore, which was evocative enough to make me choose using them over anything else I might have chosen. I didn't add much new world building when using them in my campaign, mostly using what I had read in the Monster Manual and Mordenkainen's Tome of...
