Spelljammer Spelljammer Shows Up In The Wild - Check Out The Tables of Contents

A lot of Athasian critters in the bestiary! And the contents of the adventure book shows the party going to Doomspace (which was labeled as "Athasspace" in the picture on the since-edited D&D Beyond article) and has references to fighting in arenas. In other words, Dark Sun confirmed! Sort of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Who is Boo?!

I have to admit that it does bug me a little bit that the actual  joke about Boo and his nature has kind of been lost over the decades of his memification. I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't the point that he was just a regular hamster and that "miniature giant space hamster" was obviously...

D&D Movie/TV An Analysis of the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Trailer

Yeah, it may be beyond the scope of 5.5, but I'm hoping they'll redo Wild Shape the same way they redid the Beast Master's companion and just have generic (but scaling) blocks for aerial/marine/land Beasts, or maybe break it down by size or something. That or just go with the NPC Frost Druid...

D&D Movie/TV An Analysis of the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Trailer

Well yeah, that's what I mean. "Person turning into a bear" would be fine, but not very interesting, for precisely the reason you mention. We all saw The Hobbit. It's been done.

D&D Movie/TV An Analysis of the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Trailer

I think it would be pretty disappointing for audiences unfamiliar with D&D to see this adventure taking place in a magical world full of bizarre monsters and have a character that can transform into something magically become, like, a regular bear. Turing into a bear is cool in the game at low...

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Wonders of the Multiverse

Do you even need to refluff it? The artificer is basically flavour-agnostic: it can use any kind of artisans' tools as a focus and you describe spells how you like. I don't think infusions-as-runes (inrunesions?) contradicts anything in the class's description. Of course, you're free to tweak it...

D&D 5E (2014) Let’s Read Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

I figured out that the MM dragon CRs work out if their breath weapons only hit one target (as opposed to two, which is the default assumption for the DPR calculation for area effects). I think it's likely that they statted up the dragons really early on because, you know, it's in the game's...

    How much for a prostitute?

This thread is quite instructive in terms of how discourse on the topic of sex work has changed in the last 20 years.

D&D 5E (2014) Let’s Read Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

Also, another thing that just occured to me is that the Claw of Luthic, in particular, was never going to survive the orcs' facelift in modern D&D. Her backstory is that she defends the tribe's nursery and hardly ever leaves it. In other words, the only time a party would fight her is because...

D&D 5E (2014) Let’s Read Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

Because I think the other variant race statblocks had a strong enough theme that they could stand alone without the specific flavour they had before. "Drow that turns into a spider" and "drow magic assassin" are pretty cool ideas even if your drow don't worship a spider goddess who really likes...

D&D 5E (2014) Let’s Read Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse.

I tried to remake the orc statblocks from Volo's to be 'setting agnostic' a while before this book came out, not because I particularly objected to including the standard orc pantheon in my homebrew setting, but just because I wanted them to be a bit more generic, like standard NPCs. I ran into...

D&D 5E (2014) Speculation thread! Vecna? Giants UA?

Any Vecna stuff they're dropping currently is absolutely cross-promotion with Stranger Things. The series gave them a huge amount of free promotion, and I believe Vecna is WOTC IP (the 3PP Critical Role stuff can't use the actual name anyway). It makes sense to me that they'd let them use it, on...

D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual Expanded II Second Edition News and Updates

It's so cool that we get to read the exact same argument in every thread of this forum. Big, big fan of seeing the same handful of people post the same back and forth over and over, even when it's barely related to the topic at hand.

D&D 5E (2014) Kobolds are also from the Feywild now?

Again, I cannot emphasise enough that kobolds aren't fey or even fey-adjacent in the book. It's an error in the interview.

D&D 5E (2014) Kobolds are also from the Feywild now?

They don't have any connection to the Feywild mentioned in Monsters of the Multiverse. I expect this is a misquote or a mistake made during the interview. Goblinoids (and Changelings) are the ones whose origins were changed to explicitly fey.
