D&D 5E (2014) Have we misunderstood the shield and sword fighter (or warrior)?

Last time I looked staves and spears were not polearms...ever.

D&D General Tell me about Birthright

Most epic level dnd game you can play in. Low magic frequency, but epic magic potential. Think Game of Thrones. 2nd edition had some gameplay issues but overall, a great setting.

D&D 5E (2014) What is the best official campaign to start off with for first-time D&D players?

My vote would be for sunless citadel from Tales of the Yawning Portal. Very clean setup and hook, lots of battle and role-playing ops. Cool bad guy at the end.

D&D 5E (2024) What older setting do you want to see next?

Can you point me to the free version of IOD? I'd like to see how it differs from the Goodman games book.

D&D 5E (2024) What older setting do you want to see next?

Currently started a game with two empires roughly based off of these current events.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Without Adding House-Rules/Home-brew

I voted no as the exploration pillar and combat are about two seconds away from becoming Candyland and nerf weapons. I get that some do not want grit and realism, but when some of your primary classes are designed to shine in one of three pillars and you reduce that through poor game design, it...

D&D 5E (2024) What older setting do you want to see next?

There is the problem of the Vos who are written as a evil Rus type of people dedicated to murder and conquest. They might need to be adjusted.

D&D 5E (2024) What older setting do you want to see next?

I'm really glad to see from the poll results that 11 other people besides me, thought Birthright was a doable setting.

D&D 5E (2024) Jumping ahead: Bring back Bloodied for monsters

Not a popular opinion, but id love for pc and monsters to suffer a debuff when bloodied. Maybe half movement and lose one attack, bonus or reaction. Just something to break up the all or nothing hp system.

    D&D 5E (2014) How do you time your level-ups?

I give in field free level ups except for levels 5, 10, and 15. Here they need a trainer of some sort. Mainly for rp reasons and a new contact.

Review of Twilight: 2000: You’re on Your Own, Good Luck

Reminds me of game called Millenniums End. THE most accurate RPG ballistic system ever made IMOP. It had these clear sheets you put over the target profile. I played it a couple of times but I dont remember much of the rest of the mechanics.

Review of Twilight: 2000: You’re on Your Own, Good Luck

I think the real gems of this system is NOT using it for TW2000 but using it out of the box scenarios In one example I have, everyone makes up characters based on themselves, and then I start a scenario where they are playing themselves where we live in a Walking Dead situation. Have them go on...

    D&D 5E (2024) Taking a healing potion as a bonus action?

I am against the bonus action healing potion. To me, it makes the game even more like a computer simulation. As someone who does some limited medieval combat reenactment, I can assure you, I could not fish out a potion bottle in gauntlets from my belt, remove the stopper, and drink it, in the...

D&D 5E (2014) What requested rules change have you refused to change?

Messing around with rolemaster one day, my friend put me up against the Balrog with a 1st level archer, which I proceeded to roll high enough to one shot with a redonkulous back to back 100 and then 99 on percentage dice.

D&D 5E (2014) What requested rules change have you refused to change?

I started using a 2 minute sand timer and now I use table initiative. If any of the players beat my rolls they get to chose a side of the table and those players go in order until half of them gone. Then half my monsters go, then the rest of the party and then the last half of the monsters. If...

D&D 5E (2024) What older setting do you want to see next?

The thing about Birthright is that its as close to an epic DnD setting in a Game of Thrones setting you can get without copyright infringment. The setting had an Iron Throne before GoT. All of humans have seperate cultures. Magic is low but epic and the demi humans are tolkienish. That being...
