Perkins notes that by having more cards, DMs can pick and choose to make their own decks. This reduces predictability and I guess campaign blowing up….or makes it easier.
Is that his point?? Or my point? 1D&D can certainly replace 2014 books if it is good enough. Early signs are unclear.
But just making something compatible, as 2e was with 1e, does not by itself ensure success.
Its a strange book that was very well timed and hence got a strangely wide distribution on both sides of the Atlantic.
I have it and yes, I always keep it handy.
Ahh. I see.
I think they will in fact want current players to get the new books. Thats why they are making so many changes and doing this huge open playtest. You can make up any definition of "significant" you want, but we are seeing a lot of changes, and its only just the beginning.

There are certainly similarities. There has also been initial waves of anger with One. Those may fade.
But there is the real danger. 2024 D&D will just be ignored by a lot of current gamers. Many people I know who staid with 1e weren't really mad...
BTW this is still that documentary. Albeit now with lots of celebs talking about how they once played.
Also, JM always refers to the live action DL series. Will we ever see it?
I have my very beloved Dragon CDs. But never got this.

Tenibor heads about 15 feet south--though he tries to otherwise stay out of the way.
He is not worried about the current combat and does not attack. He is worried about the current combat getting much harder, and will keep his eyes and ears very open for any sound of encroaching giants...
Oh no, the biggest upset, only the second time a 16 seed beat a 1 seed, involves KNIGHTS.
Almost a pattern.
As for FDU beating the Purdue Boilermakers, just yet more evidence that artificers suck.
