    Dragon Reflections #90

That's probably right. I remember issue 100 as a turning point, but we might already be gently stepping down.

    Dragon Reflections #90

Are we past the peak? There will be many more highlights, but we might be coming down from the summit.

D&D 5E (2014) Which was the most recent Wizards adventure you consider a classic?

If you exclude recycled content…and I have done a lot of that in 5e…then it might just be Lost Mines.

    Rewatching Bond films

Thunderball a 001, jumping to a 006 for You only live twice? You will have to have negative 00s with this kind of scaling. Spy Who Loved Me might still get to 007. So very very Bond. Edit and ninjaed…but now I know why you liked you only twice so much.

D&D General What does "This adventure is for mid-level adventurers" mean to you?

    If it’s 5e and your using 2024 characters, 3rd level… …seriously.

    D&D 5E (2024) Why are you still playing D&D?

2024 D&D could be better in a few ways, and worse in sooo many more. So many bad ideas out there. Plus it is easier to find players for.

    D&D 5E (2014) 2024 D&D is 2014 D&D with 4E sprinkled on top

Your right. But as I know all too well there will be many, many posts here saying you are wrong.

    Your table is YOUR table.

Of course the OP is right. Do what you like. But I don’t think this site, and certainly not these boards, would exist if they did give not us fans a place to complain. We would do that even if the RPG business was well run, and frequently it is not.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024, Phantasmal Force and Metamagic Interactions

This has come up in play. First question, can it be moved?

D&D 5E (2024) Paul Hughes's Analysis of D&D 2024 Monster Manual monsters on Blog of Holding

5.0 monster stats, especially from the MM, tended to be low (and their special properties usually did not fully compensate). HP are still low, though they are higher at high levels than in 2014. AC is same or 1 higher than 2014 guidance and practice.Attack is 1, 2, then 3 higher then guidance...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

Having just posted that, it may also reflect the size of the market. That strategy of supporting multiple not really compatible with each other settings may now make sense with a much larger player base.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

And Greyhawk in the DMG. It’s probably just the desire to keep content evergreen, Having released so many adventure books and already dumping a bunch of rules material through the revised core books, they needed to come up with something else that they hadn’t overdone.

D&D 5E (2024) Above the Table Interview with Jeremy Crawford.

So 2024 is more like 4e. Now let the denials begin continue. Also, our columnist really buried the question on the humanoids. He kind of but did not really ask it.

D&D General Chris Perkins and Stan! - previous D&D edition thoughts

5e does not play like 3e. Except to the extent that it plays like any other version of D&D. Skills, spell casting, combat, modifiers and (all those) subsystems, npcs, assumptions about magic items and treasure, all very different. And you’re certainly wrong on “your someone”. I’m not.

D&D General Chris Perkins and Stan! - previous D&D edition thoughts

There is plenty of 4e in 5e, (and even more in 2024) and plenty of 1e, 2e, and 3e that are not in it. And goodness for that!

Are Orcs in the Monster Manual? No and Yes.

There were elves and dwarves in the MM through 3e. Gnome was famously a monster in 4e. And that information could be useful, it was not the same as the PHB info.

Dragonlance "You walk down the road, party is now level 2."

@MerricB touched on this above...but the most popular and widely played 5e adventures do not follow the pattern everyone is repeating here. LMoP: You get ambushed by goblins, track them back to their lair, and have multiple fights in the lair, plus possibly avoiding being hit by a flood. Level...

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

There is a difference between “resurgence” and being a curiosity. It is also amusing to see the return of the list of fails. Many things listed, yet not all (Gleemax, never forget). But 4e lives on. 5e 2024 is full of it.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

An Essentials discussion in 2024….at least no one has brought up the Warlord. There is no 4e resurgence or “renaissance”. There was an old school one. When 4e came out.
