Godzilla Roleplaying Game Launching in 2026

I’ll always be team Godzilla, but I have to say 90’s Gamera kicked some serious behind. Any Kaiju movie fan should check those films out.

GMs: What is your prep to play ratio?

I tend to do a lot of front-loading in my games… building the setting, creating NPCs, scenarios, and adversaries, so most of the prep tends to happen right at the start, but I’ll go with an average of 1 hour prep per 3 hours of play.

Godzilla Roleplaying Game Launching in 2026

As a longtime Godzilla fan who’s run one-shots with various game engines before (from HERO to Pulp Cthulhu) I’m very interested to see what they cook up. It seems to have a focus on playing human defenders, but I wonder if it allows for PC-controlled Kaiju ala Destroy All Monsters? It looks...

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

Thanks for that summary of the current playtest @payn ! My Battletech group had some schedule changes and we haven’t been able to play much since the packets started releasing. I’m actually surprised TAG and Active Probes didn’t see some adjustments, since they’ve always been very niche in the...

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

I’m just getting my feet wet running Daggerheart and so far it’s going great, but one thing I want to utilize more is Environments. I’m planning on taking a stab at building some, but for those already running any additional tips, advice or (heh) pitfalls involved? Anyone have any examples they...

D&D General examples of high tech stuff in dungeons and dragons?

(Not to mention the plane of Mechanus and Modrons being very robotic)

D&D General examples of high tech stuff in dungeons and dragons?

In the Planescape Module “Doors to the Unknown” one of the planes you travel to was a giant circuit board.

Do you "roleplay" in non-TTRPG Games?

If I’m with the right group with the right board game I definitely adopt a “character”, but it’s usually more for laughs than with any kind of serious RP in mind.

    I made a terrible life decision…

One thing I’m also impressed by is that Enterprise toy from the 80’s being in such good condition. The diecast nacelles were infamous for breaking apart in my circles.

    D&D 5E (2014) What's your favorite one shot adventure?

I don’t have any to add, but I wanted to thank everybody for these suggestions! I’m often in need of short one shots and I’m taking notes!

    Hours actually playing RPGs, non-D&D?

Over 60 hrs. I’ve actually played very little D&D this calendar year. The games I’ve played in or run have included: Shadowdark, Dragonbane, BattleTech/Mechwarrior, multi-supernatural World of Darkness, and now Daggerheart. There’s also plans for some WEG Star Wars (coming soon!)

Do you use "voice acting" when you play?

Yes, I always have, but I will moderate the voices I do if a certain group isn’t into it as much. The voice helps me find the character’s personality.

    Playing AS monsters?

I ran a one-shot where everyone was a dragon in a world where they were the last of their kind. And I’ve played in an all-kobold adventure that was mostly done for laughs.

Tell me about VtM when it started

I remember being introduced to the game by a friend of a friend. She was one of the first female gamers I had ever met. I think Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Gary Oldman and Keanu had just come out. We didn’t play it (sadly) but she loaned me her first edition soft cover book and I found it utterly...

Daggerheart Class Packs kickstarter is live.

In my case I didn’t back this one because the cost of getting all the decks was rather steep, so instead I ended up buying another Core Set. Some others may have decided to do the same(…?)

Would you purchase an expansion, from a different system than you use, to adapt for your preferred system? If yes why?

I’ve been doing this since the 90s, taking elements I like from different adventures or settings and adapting them to whatever game engine I happen to be using. And I often utilize materials from older editions of RPGs for newer ones, even if the core engines aren’t very compatible. One...

Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

I’m about 50/50, but it also largely depends on the game system I’m running and the players I’m running it for. Some I play with like tightly plotted stories, and others like lots of ad-libbed role play, and yet another group enjoys ol’ fashioned dungeon crawls. I’m happy doing any of these.
