D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

oh definitely, i think it would be much better if the manoeuvre die added directly to the likelyhood of success on the manoeuvres as the default design, like how in grappling strike the die is added to your strength check, and then 'untrained' classes could use the same manoeuvres but with...

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemaster and Superiority Dice are causing martials to suffer.

i agree with the general statement but less so the conclusion, i think they just need to scale down how much they value they put on unlimited use abilities

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

as is most martials end up having two attacks by default, do you think it would be better if they got more?

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

the idea is more you get 3 attacks for x3 damage than going to either of the ends of the scale.

D&D 5E (2024) Martials: damage scaling like cantrips?

yeah i do think it would be interesting for martial design if there was a dual progression on their damage, between extra attack and extra weapon damage dice, i do think the specifics of the weapon table might need to be reworked a little, but just the idea that a higher level warrior can get...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

it makes a difference because then it matters what approach the PCs take in the entry, the NPCs do exist in their set locations, the GM may have only rolled to determine what NPCs exist and where those locations are a literal 30 seconds ago when the players declared their intent to break into...

because it's creating a connection between two fundamentally unrelated events, why should the presence of the cook be at all dependent on the rogue's ability to pick locks?

Oh but think of the story they're creating! ;)

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

okay i missed that the example was a random house they were trying to rob, but that doesn't actually significantly change the point i was making, the players announce they want to rob the house and maybe even also their intended method of entry via lockpicking, the GM now, in complete isolation...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

the difference is that in the trad example the cook's existence does not hinge on a failed roll, they exist in the house regardless, and the GM has rolled for their location and determined them to be in the kitchen far enough before the players even decide to enter through the kitchen door that...

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast promises to release more “CRPGs that are going to be as serious as BG3” without Larian

incredibly, things don't need to contain NSFW aspects to be 'serious', honestly did putting in the infamous bear scene and whatever else similar NSFW content that is in the game really add any notable amount of value overall?

D&D 5E (2024) What battlemaster maneuver would you allow to be used at-will, if any, but without adding die roll to the effect of it?

i'll figure out my actual list later sometime, but something i'm noticing is that in alot of the manoeuvres the maneuvre dice roll doesn't do much for them besides act as currency to use it in the first place and add a little damage equal to the roll, and for those that do actually use the roll...

D&D General The joys of playing a PC with low stats

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

honestly i couldn't ever keep track of which method was prepared and which was known or memorized, and which method was meant to work which way so making them all the same terminology with just class specific change intervals is an improvement in my eyes.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

it seems the opposite to me, if the game is being driven by the gm then how would events ever not turn out how they are expecting? the players drive things, however it is the GM's very purpose to construct the world and try predict and plan for the things the players are going to do and...

D&D 5E (2024) What Should a Psion Be Able To Do?

no, i do mean the thing that i said in the way that i said it, 'all supernatural is a subset of magic' feels backwards in the same way 'all light is a subset of UV' does

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

i'm not sure what 'same reason' is meant to go here and make sense, especially as they didn't remove the concept of subspecies as a whole, just from certain species natural telepathy is something that seems a little more than cultural to me, but not enough for a different species entirely...
