    i think any disparity between the two is solved by considering the original context of @Maxperson 's quote and assuming it probably should have been stated as 'Encounter hasn't solely meant combat for decades' rather than taking it at literal word-for-word value minus context.

    i agree with what you're saying but i think the issue most lies in that initial statement for some people, 'everything supernatural is a derivative of magic' feels like a backwards classification to us in the same way that 'the entire EM spectrum is a derivative of ultra-violet' feels backwards.

    personally, the primary things i'd take from the fighter budget to convert start converting it to warlord are extra attack 2+3, the extra ASI, action surge and most of their stronger martial weapons (basically anything with the heavy property)

    i mentioned in the 'what you want the psion to be' thread but while i don't REALLY want the psion to be a caster as such i'm more than happy to let it piggyback off of the massive list of existing spells, rather than redesigning a bunch of abilities that are psionic copies of existing spells.

    i've definitely thought and said this before, it's not that the individual tools to create a good warlord don't exist in 5e, it's just that they're too piecemeal and scattered that's it's just not realistically possible to combine them into a greater whole on a single character.
