D&D 5E (2014) Do Cleric/Druid players just ignore a large portion of their spells list?

I make my own character sheets for games these days, optimized for the information I find myself referencing the most. I leave out the bits that I never use. I print everything out on a template I made, then put them in a small (5x8'') 3-ring binder. I also put in pages with duplicates of any...

    Mearls On D&D's Design Premises/Goals

You're right. They would probably constitute a fourth general group, with different expectations, if they had any at all.

    Mearls On D&D's Design Premises/Goals

Yes, exactly! I started playing and GMing D&D way back in the Holmes boxed set era. There have been a lot of changes to D&D over time that go beyond simple differences between the rules in various editions. Back when I started, the basic rules were very minimal (and sometimes contradictory)...

    D&D 3.x D&D 3.5e - Exalted Wildshape Feat - Class Level?

On the Exalted Wildshape Feat it says that you must have a "wild shaping class level 8." Does that just mean your druid level? Thanks!

D&D 3.5 - costs to upgrade existing magic items

That looks like the best way to do it. Thanks!

D&D 3.5 - costs to upgrade existing magic items

I'm trying to figure out how much it would cost (at standard rates) to upgrade the following items in D&D 3.5: Wildshape Leather Armor +2 (bring it up to +5) Ring of Protection +3 (bring it up to +5) By "upgrade" I mean getting magician to add pluses to the existing items, if that's...

Best way to sell a HUGE gaming collection?

You can avoid fees on Craigslist or any number of local Facebook groups.

    Mearls On D&D's Design Premises/Goals

    >The fear was that an obnoxious player or DM would ruin the game, >and that would drive people away from it. That assumption is what made me lose interest in D&D long ago, and what keeps me from buying into a lot of modern "storytelling games." You don't need to bake "protection" from bad...

    New Survey

I didn't think that they delineated that very well, either. The interesting thing about that is that GMs are the ones who are most likely to buy the print products, both full books and adventures. A LOT of players out there don't even buy the Player's Handbook.

    New Survey

I did the whole survey and answered all the questions honestly. One thing that really stood out is that I'm obviously NOT the audience they are going for. It is pretty obvious that they are trying to figure out how to expand the brand more, beyond the ttrpg books, and I was never interested in...

There's A New Edition of Savage Worlds Coming!

Things like that aren't enough to make me want to put out the money to buy an all new core rulebook. Once the changes come out, I will just homebrew them into my existing game, if I like them. I would just break down and buy the new rulebook if it was at a better price point, but the types of...

There's A New Edition of Savage Worlds Coming!

Looks like that is what it was. When it comes to the DMSGuild and similar systems (like the one Chaosium does) I'm still not clear on what products are selling best and how many sales constitute the top ten. Chaosium indicated that the best selling one on theirs has netted the creator $800...

There's A New Edition of Savage Worlds Coming!

I play and GM a lot of Savage Worlds. I'm going to take a "wait and see" approach with this one. Unless there are some really compelling rule changes that sound useful to me, I would rather spend the money on one of the setting books.

Where Are All the Dungeon Masters?

That is a big part of the reason why I don't end up GMing as much these days as I would like to. I burned out on D&D/Pathfinder style fantasy a while back. I don't mind running a campaign here and there, but I'm not interested in putting together or joining a group that ONLY does that. In...

Where Are All the Dungeon Masters?

I no longer allow electronics at the table unless they are only used for game purposes, or there is a situation like a player needing to stay in contact with a babysitter. Before I ever let players join a game, I let them know that they are expected to pay attention to the game, even when their...

Where Are All the Dungeon Masters?

Organized play just doesn't interest me, as a GM or a player. It requires a whole extra level of bookkeeping and planning, and relies on pre-done adventures. For me, half the fun is the worldbuilding that goes with being a GM. Sadly, though, most of the calls for GMs I see in my area...

Where Are All the Dungeon Masters?

I have been GMing and playing for 35+ years now. I still enjoy GMing as much as I ever did. I don't get to do it as much as I would like, though, because I have had a hard time in recent years putting a group together that is willing to play anything but D&D (any edition) or Pathfinder. I run...
