D&D 5E (2024) Feywild technically doesn't mention the Seelie and Unseelie Court

Well, their morals are a blink like their lives are; codes never go away.

Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

Yes, I'm much more what is the game you're playing? 5E D&D campaign? Yes, I do more planning between sessions. Vaesen? Some planning; generally more improv at-the-table involved. Brindlewood Bay? Very little, if any. Paranoia? None.

    D&D General What's your view on a pirate-driven campaign?

Echo this, if you have time and inclination to do so. Especially, read about pirates from different geographic locales (not just the Caribbean); the kinds of communities that sprung up to support them were different, based on local environment and peoples involved.

I think it is time for a break.

This sounds as if a break is warranted, what form that comes in though will vary quite a bit. No one I don't think (?) has mentioned solo RPG games; I read more and more positive experiences by people who've tried this way of playing. It has the benefit of being entirely done on your own time...

    D&D 5E (2024) Help me Houserule 5e Equipment & Items

Downtime in Zyan I found pretty informative; I borrowed most ideas from that in the campaign I'm running to inform stuff like lifestyle/economy; nearly all of the downtime activity steps are just a 2d6 roll with PbtA outcomes; then depending on the activity, a light modifier to that based off a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Help me Houserule 5e Equipment & Items

A disguise kit has enough materials to piece together up two disguises (two uses) for a medium creature or smaller. After the second use, the kit needs to be resupplied-- repurchased, X cost. Thieves Tools: On a roll of a natural 1, your instruments jam, resulting in them getting stuck, or in...

D&D General Oh Please give me some Happy Backgrounds!!

Yeah no one has to default to any of course. I only mentioned conscription because it's been around since antiquity and as an example because someone I know just made a character with that background for a game they're starting to play in. In their case, their PC didn't attempt to go AWOL. They...

D&D General Oh Please give me some Happy Backgrounds!!

Conscription is/was a thing in many nation states/cultures. "I was born the second son of an itinerant farmer." (welp...) (also very much a thing in many cultures.) Fairly common to have a positive, stable upbringing, and still find yourself on the road... :3

D&D General They're Building A Memorial Game Table Sculpture In Honor of Gary Gygax

I like that the memorial has interactive concepts in mind. People may want to be prepared to clean bird poop off the table surface if they want to game.

D&D General Oh Please give me some Happy Backgrounds!!

Pilgrimages (and by these, I mean ones undertaken with genuine intent by the lower classes) done as an act of faith was absolutely a thing; enduring difficulties was seen as the physical complement to the spiritual one. How well prepared pilgrims were probably varied (much like us today); going...

What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

These are very generous! The 1st thought that came to mind was Arden Vul, either in OSE, other version of B/X, or Shadowdark. (This will likely never happen.)

D&D General Oh Please give me some Happy Backgrounds!!

Merely curious but in this campaign, did the table runner do anything with the fact the majority of players had something dark in their PC's past? Separately, if I were at this table, I'd be heartened to see a character who was stable and well-balanced!

D&D General What version of D&D are you playing?

    5e 2014 Classes + A5E everything else (practically).

D&D General Charisma Checks gone Horribly Wrong - Can you Relate?

The PC fighter knows how to fight. The burden on an attack is choosing which attack options are optimal. The PC rogue knows how to hide and how to spike damage on single targets. The burden for either is choosing where and when to undertake said actions, and declare them when they or others...

    D&D General Perception vs Investigation

Been following; everyone's broadening of the use of Perception or Investigation at their tables, or which in what kinds of situations, has been illuminating. I appreciate ppls' riffs on what's been said and feel like this is something I can be mindful of at my table.

D&D General Charisma Checks gone Horribly Wrong - Can you Relate?

At my table the party's main face character has the worst Charisma out of the group; the PC has social anxiety and finds it challenging speaking in front of groups. But the PC recognizes this; it is something they've set as goal to improve, and work on by agreeing to be the main spokesperson...

Other D&D Variant What is your favorite version of D&D offshoot/D20 fantasy today? Tell us why it is the best!

D&D General Stop Yapping, Start Playing: Trimming GM Descriptions

There was a module I was running where the party had to rush to prevent an assassination attempt of a minor noble at their country home. The module was kind enough to provide a general description of the outside of the home, but had no description about the interior beyond noting where the...

    Costumes and Cosplay

Not familiar with above, but! After looking it up I'd pick this one. While both choices are recent, this one has a bigger audience in terms of age range, and even if I saw someone dressed like this and didn't recognize the character, I'd immediately pay attention. The cat and heart boxers are...

D&D General Stop Yapping, Start Playing: Trimming GM Descriptions

This has been discussed a bit both here and elsewhere. Over the last year or so, I've found these blog posts helpful in broadening my understanding about the different structures and scaffolding people use for keying adventures (which includes the concept of what things to introduce to a party...
