D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

True, there could be Ranger builds where the character focuses their attention towards one type of monster. I have seen at least one Ranger subclass whose class features deal exclusively with the undead. These Rangers would be like the Specialist Wizards. A Ranger who deals with all kinds of...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

You're welcome. :) I asked because of a post I made on this same thread several pages as well. Level Up: A5e has a feature that is like Favored Enemy called Studied Adversary. It differs from Favored Enemy in that you can change your favored enemy per long rest. I can imagine that the Studied...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

@Rocker26a, what about having it where you can change your Favored Enemy per Long Rest?

    Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

I remember several decades ago; Palladium Games was planning to come out with a TMNT and Other Strangeness 2. But the plan never went thru because they were worried about the target audience not buying it thanks to the first TMNT cartoon.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

What makes a class satisfying is how you role-play one during a gaming session.

Pathfinder 1E I’ve Forgotten How to Play Pathfinder

For some, Pathfinder 1st edition was seen as 3.75e D&D. I gravitated towards it because of its' familiarity. It was a slight improvement over 3.5 but it still gave you the feeling that you were still playing D&D.

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Why stop there? Every class/subclass has something that needs fixing. ;) I suggest that we start with the Fighter class and go from there. Any chance you have seen the homebrewed version of the Ranger by Laser Llama for 5e?

I was unaware that someone was doing a Kickstarter for this RPG. curious

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

In addition to the A5e Ranger, there is the alternate version of the class by Laser Llama that also has a good amount of customization worked into it via its' Knacks feature. They sort of work like a feat chain, and you can get up to 10 of them by 20th level. If you wanted your Ranger to be...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

    I did. :) Pathfinder 1e, I heard, sometimes went by the nickname 3.75e. ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

Level Up's version of Favored Enemy, Studied Adversary, allows you to replace your current studied adversary with a new one every time you have a Long Rest. It fixed what had to be IMO the biggest drawback that came with Favored Enemy, knowing if your favored enemy was going to be encountered...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

While the 3.5 Ranger had access to one of two Combat Styles, the PF1 Ranger had access to a lot more from its' core rulebook and accessories. Archery, Crossbow, Deceptive, Elemental, Menacing, Mounted Combat, Natural Weapon, Thrown Weapon, Two-Handed Weapon, Two-Weapon Fighting, Underhanded...

D&D 5E (2014) Convince me that the Ranger is a necessary Class.

And depending on whether or not you picked Two-Weapon Fighting or Archery, you also gained access to several Bonus Feats from doing so.

You mean the one from the Wayfinder computer game? ;) The bounty hunter with the battle axe?

    Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

I am not too put of out of it with regards to the overdue Kickstarter products. Backing a Kickstarter is going to be something of a gamble for anyone who decides to back one. Of the three, my favorite has to be Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realms by Loot Tavern.

    Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

I am waiting on the books for three Kickstarter projects that are about 1 to 2 years overdue. Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realms, The Book of Spirits: An Ethereal Guide to 5e and Caliya's Chronicle of Runes. I've got the finalized PDF for Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realms, so at least, I've got...

D&D General Why do we color-code Dragons?

I know, too obvious. TBH, I don't know why Paizo decided to change its' looks between editions. Just that they did.

D&D General What alignment are you?

Neutral Good. I vaguely remember taking an alignment test several years ago and getting this alignment as a result. ;) One of those multiple-choice personality tests that reads like the Bonds, Ideals, Flaws and Personality of a given Background.

D&D General Why do we color-code Dragons?

The Draconal in the first pic is more like a serpentaur. No legs for it to stand on.

D&D General Blue on Blue (Goblins)

3e had a number of goblin 'mutations' in it. There was the Snow Goblins from the Frostfell book. I think the Sandstorm book had a desert variant in it.
