D&D 5E (2014) Justin Alexander's review of Shattered Obelisk is pretty scathing

Speaking of long term adventures, how do people feel about Call of the Netherdeep? I never seem to see it mentioned whenever adventures get brought up in threads. Has anybody here ever run it, or played it? Is it any good? I was thinking of running it for my daughter and her cousins if I can...

Oof, now I can’t stop thinking about The Yawning Portal with that thought in mind 😬

D&D 5E (2024) Does WotC view the Monk class as overtuned from their perspective?

Way to go, Clint! You’ve just rendered us all obsolete. We no longer need to have back and forth discussions on the forums; we just need to type the OPs into Chat GPT and let the AI do it for us. 🤪

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8 Survey

The only explanation I can come up with (bear with me, because this is a massive stretch) is: Acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, thunder, and I suppose radiant damage all attack the body from the outside, while necrotic and poison damage attack the body from the inside. Psychic also attacks...

Scooby must have been from the same town as Astro from the Jetsons

D&D 5E (2014) If WotC Did A New Setting Search

I would be onboard for a complete Exandria setting. I know we already have the official Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount and the independent Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn, but I want the whole world including Issylra, Marquet, and the Shattered Teeth.

D&D 5E (2024) Symmetric Balance vs Asymmetric Balance.

Wow, that’s a lot of words to say . . . I’m not really sure what, to be honest. I’m not certain that bringing up your own D&D knockoff contributes much to our One D&D discussion. Also, I’ve never played Breath of the Wind, so that segment didn’t really land with me. But I do know it’s a 1...

D&D 5E (2024) Symmetric Balance vs Asymmetric Balance.

Wait, what? Cooperation in a party stems from characters being specialists in their own field, working together to achieve a common goal. If everyone can do everything, nobody needs to rely on anyone else to achieve that goal and cooperation is not necessary . Thus, niche abilities lead to it...

D&D 5E (2024) Homebrew: New ability for Rangers; Rapid attack, it is fueled by spell slots, but adding more martial flavor to ranger.

Maybe you should change the title of the thread to "My proposed new ability for Rangers . . . " I read the title and thought I had missed a new UA or something.

D&D 5E (2024) What would you like in the 2024 DMG Instead of the Bastion System?

Huh. I would have considered these three for the Feywild, not the Shadowfel. See, this is why I need this nonexistent 5e Manual of the Planes!

D&D 5E (2024) What would you like in the 2024 DMG Instead of the Bastion System?

I'd love to have a separate Manual of the Planes if it had some handy dandy encounter tables. For my daughter and her friend, I was considering sending them to the Shadowfel, but I had to scour the internet to find out what creatures I could expect them to find there other than Shadar-Kai...

D&D General Which of these should be core classes for D&D?

I'd go: Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard, Bard, and Monk aka the choices available in the original Final Fantasy for the NES (Warrior, Thief, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, and Ninja).

    D&D 5E (2024) The Battle Master Paradigm

I guess. But if it gives the Fighter something unique that they can call their own . . . I know, I know, Niche Protection is evil.

    D&D 5E (2024) A Revised Necromancer Subclass?

Here is Wiktionary's definition of the work Abjure: Verb[edit] abjure (third-person singular simple present abjures, present participle abjuring, simple past and past participle abjured) (transitive) To renounce upon oath; to forswear; to disavow. [First attested around 1350 to 1470.][2]...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Battle Master Paradigm

I still plant my flag on the hill that WotC should: 1) Get rid of Weapon Mastery 2) Get rid of the Battle Master subclass 3) Make the Battle Master's Maneuvers a base Fighter ability. But, based on this thread, I think I'll add a 4th suggestion: Either 4a) Make all Maneuvers available from...

D&D General Half Formed Thought On Martial Control

    D&D 5E (2024) A Revised Necromancer Subclass?

What concerns me is that WotC saw that the Necromancer subclass doesn't get played much and concluded that the player base wasn't interested in playing Necromancers, rather than concluding that the subclass was poorly implemented and, perhaps, a better implemented Necromancer might actually see...

    D&D 5E (2024) Should poison spray be a cone?

I said yes, but with the caveat that the damage die gets reduced down from a d12. Maybe a d8 or so. D12 is fine for a single target cantrip, but if it potentially targets multiple creatures, the damage should be reduced. Otherwise, it’s too good for a cantrip.

D&D 5E (2024) What would be the path between Wildshape Templates and Use an Beast statblock?

Well, there was only one way to know for sure. But they took a "one and done" approach instead before giving up completely.
