Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I'm so fond of the titular song from that album, I tend to forget Family Man is on there.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

And I said it was "a little" unfair.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I have to point out at least Micah's issues with current D&D have nothing much to do with diversity in it. I understand why people can get tired of his incessant grumbling about it, but I think its at least fair to not include him with certain--other elements--in the hobby when they're coming...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

This can be true for almost any other game for people unwilling or incapable of playing remotely in many places.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I think this is a little unfair. The truth is that while some people can do a competent job of both playing and GMing, and get value out of both, some people are just no good at one or the other, or actively dislike one or the other. Telling people who are no good (or have reason to believe...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

The question is, whether the other demographic is worth the trouble.

Experience with End of the World?

Doubt it really does. It should be usable for a while at least, and I couldn't see anything in the game that suggests a "god mode" is actually possible. I'd say yes to both. Hard to say. I'm not sure I think so, but as I said, I'm probably not its target audience. Its certainly not...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

Honest? Marketers? You're a funny man, Micah.

Elsewhere: You know, when I say I seem to have gone around the discussion enough times, bringing up things I've already addressed or argument dependent on assumptions I've already said I'm not buying is not going to convince me circling again is useful.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

This is more extensive than I've seen them do before, but it wouldn't be the first time they've done deadpan irony.

Experience with End of the World?

I played one game of it at a con, and own the PDFs. My reaction was that the one game I played was reasonably fun, but on reading the books the rules portion is schematic enough and dependent on ad-hoc decision-making that I can't help but feel I could have gotten as good a results out of a...

On some level, if they were being honest, that's probably what it is.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I think I'd argue it was largely marketed at 20-somethings in the 70's, but that's not probably a significant difference.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Thanks. It took me a very long time to make the decision, but when you get up most days after GMing for a group with mixture of sadness, anger and disappointment pointed both inward and outward, its obvious something has to give, and I'd tried various things to address the problem for literally...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

In the case I referenced, I'd known these people for decades. One of the players involved was my oldest gaming friend, who I'd met when he was 16 and I was 18. I still get twinges when I think about it. But it was the right decision. That's obvious in the rear-view mirror.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Of course Dobies run toward zoomies from everything I understand (can't say much; our first dog ran to the zoomies, and would sometimes circle the living room hitting the floor only once in the cycle. She was a Belgian Malinois who hit 70 lbs at her peak, so this was, to say the least, alarming.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

The problem is, of course, that sometimes getting away from it also leaves you with sadness, regret and the like. That can make it hard to bite the bullet, and sometimes it takes until getting away from it becomes clearly the lesser evil. I learned that when abandoning one of my two gaming...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

You apparently get some very odd results when you have a puppy that was, essentially, raised by an adult cat. They apparently tend to grow up thinking of themselves as a big clumsy cat...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Its always amusing to see as you watch a cat pouncing on a GSD that outweighs them by a factor of six, the turning around and nose-flipping the cat halfway across the room, and then an hour later the two of them asleep with the dog curled around the cat. But like you said, its a thing of early...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I'm only halfway there with you. I mean, honestly, I find 4-hour sessions too short, so much less than that and I'll just take a pass. Which is probably no different than the people for whom its "face to face or nothing" but I'm not going to blame the rest of the world for my having what may...
