Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I've seen cases where they did, but only when the cat(s) and dog(s) grew up together.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I suspect even were I more of a cat person, trying to introduce a kitten into a house with a GSD/heeler mix and a GSD/bull terrier mix would be, shall we say, a bad idea.

I think it is time for a break.

Yeah, back when I did a mix of freelance and contract editing, I hit that more than once.

Geek Confessional Thread 2024 [NOW 2025!]

Yeah, but at the end of the day, only a subset of end users want to do "new and unique" all the time. Even superhero gaming tends to run on villain books, and that's about as one-off centric as 95% of the hobby ever gets.

Of course that only works if you can cook a cheeseburger worth a darn.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Does "Its the only thing that doesn't involve cooking at home" count? Because I know of at least one interstate support town (which is to say a strip with a gas station, a pizza joint, and a couple other non-food places, along with a scattering of houses) that's like that. You can argue...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Is it bad that when I just glanced at this, I thought it had something to do with a particular Helluva Boss episode?

It's the End of the World As We Know It: Apocalyptic Campaign Settings

Depends how you count it. I personally think I'd call the things that happened to the Central American civilizations in that category.

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

Not like design trends don't have precedents usually, especially at individual tables.

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

If true, I wonder how much of that is the reach of 5e Advantage/Disadvantage.

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

I'm not sure about the second part, but at least as a priority, I think the first is pretty true--because the kind of fiction they're trying to capture isn't particularly concerned about that, either.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I updated both laptops yesterday, and so far mine seems okay, but if its a timebomb problem, it might well.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Not like there haven't been studies proving that, but apparently nobody believes them.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yeah, I have to remind her of that.

She's similar in both ways, though she only works from home two days a week.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

My wife is notorious for me having to poke her to get her to use some of her vacation days. We take a couple weeks off a year (once around our anniversery and once near Halloween) and she still manages to accrue more than she uses.

I think it is time for a break.

I'm not sure I did it to recapture the joy so much as just needing to break from fatigue in it. I did that for about a year at one point. Discovered even accounting for the stress I was getting I missed GMing too much to stay away any longer.

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

Though in practice, with a point build system its hard to really talk about this distinction since point assignment at start is fundamenttally arbitrary and can vary from campaign to campaign. Only way the non-parallel applies is if the NPC has abilities a PC is not permitted to acquire at all.

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

Depends what you mean and where you start counting. PC-playable non-humans did have parallel processes as of RQ3. Random encountered ones weren't at least clearly done that way, but then, neither were random encountered humans. It wasn't like the game had classes anyay, so its hard to tell...

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

The problem with this as I've mentioned before is that players usually know the mechanics to at least some extent, and knowledge of the kinds of outcomes and results mechanics produce is not a neutral arbiter; it effects people's decision making. Its the usual stupid blunt object example but...
