D&D 5E (2014) Nathan Stewart Promises WotC will do something with new settings in 2018

A planar supplement would be a solid addition to the base game, as well as potentially its own setting. More useful for the highest number of people than an entirely different campaign setting.

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide #1 non-fiction bestseller this week

It can be heartening to find out that a thing you like is well-received by others, I suppose? Wanting to be part of a group is human instinct.

Robot Wars: Transformers vs. Robotech vs. BattleTech

That's what they did... for the tabletop game. However Piranha decided to try to license the designs again for their computer game, to lure old fans, and it has drawn the ire of Harmony Gold once again. Different companies.

Robot Wars: Transformers vs. Robotech vs. BattleTech

Good summary. Yeah, Piranha seems to have directly copied the original designs again, streamlining and modernizing them. I'm sure they wouldn't have done this if they didn't think they had legal standing, though. On the other hand, the three cited in the filing under the Harebrained Schemes...

    D&D 5E (2014) Where are sunrods in 5e?

Never liked them, as I preferred the mental picture of a lantern or torch dimly illuminating the darkness. I can see how they would be missed, though. 5e could have used a few additional alchemical items and poisons on launch.

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Secrets

Most of it is straight out of the DMG. Obsidian steed is obvious enough. Bag of holding (or devouring?), boots of speed, bracers of defense, tome of leadership & influence, decanter of endless water, lantern of revealing, but didn't see anything to match the cat icon thing. The small book on...

D&D 5E (2014) Would you use Paladin "smite" spells if they were not concentration?

Both paladins in my games like to have buff spells like bless, protection from evil, aura of vitality, or shield of faith running, so I removed the concentration requirement and just let them be cast as a bonus action after an attack lands.

D&D 5E (2014) Power Level of "Raise Stat to 19" Items

I'm not fond of how they do nothing for someone already high in that stat. Could always make them a sliding scale to eliminate that aspect, and reduce or prevent min-maxing: If you have a 10 or less, item gives you a 15. If you have 11-14, item gives you a 17. If you have 15+, item adds +2...

D&D 5E (2014) Forget about the treasure and pricing system of 5E!

Wait, you're saying there's rules for treasure distribution in the DMG?

D&D 5E (2014) Feats: Toughness, Inspiring Leader, Healer, and Magic Initiate

Healer is great for patching people up between fights while kicking in doors and so on, when long concentration spells are still rolling and time is limited, but it's usually a pretty bad choice in combat past level 3-5. There are usually more effective things you can be doing. The fact that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Protection Domain Reworked

Not the original, but along the same theme, here's a Guardian domain I created shortly before this UA was published, in case you don't get a response. Feel free to ignore otherwise. Guardian Domain Gods like Helm and Torm are sworn protectors. Some are guardians of another being, place, or...

    Divine Prayerbooks

While perusing 2e books for material to convert, Prayers from the Faithful was particularly useful. To those unfamiliar, it's a catalog of Faerûnian holy books dedicated to specific gods of the Forgotten Realms, each containing unique spells and abilities. That got me thinking. In 5e, divine...

    D&D 5E (2014) What non-combat abilities should fighters have?

Let them trade an ASI for a second background. Then your character can be both a gentleman and a scholar. :p

    D&D 5E (2014) What non-combat abilities should fighters have?

Not having read the entire thread... Provide more feats with a nice swath of common-themed non-combat abilities (I know, I know, not all games use feats).

D&D 5E (2014) Are You Planning on Subscribing to D&D Beyond

Absolutely. Just the ability to collect and distribute my homebrew content alone is worth the price of admission.

D&D 5E (2014) hand use rules of D&D: object interaction, spellcasting focus and components

I just let casters cast, regardless of whether their hands are occupied with weapons/shields. IMO all you need are a few gestures with the hand/fingers , even if it's got a weapon in it. The world hasn't ended yet. Now if their hands were tied or manacled or severed it might be a different story.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you want psionics in your D&D?

In a setting like Dark Sun: Yes, absolutely. In a setting like FR: Yes, but extremely rare.
