D&D 5E (2024) One D&D Survey Feedback: Weapon Mastery Spectacular; Warlock and Wizard Mixed Reactions

Tetrasodium, I understand what you are suggesting, and it is seriously not what Charlaquin is talking about. You're barking up the wrong tree there. You appear to be opining that you believe that the classes are already in balance, so that any increase in the capability of one class will raise...

D&D 5E (2024) One D&D Survey Feedback: Weapon Mastery Spectacular; Warlock and Wizard Mixed Reactions

Bladesinger is a particularly problematic example, since that subclass grants something like 70+% of the capabilities of the fighter class, whereas the equivalent fighter subclass only grants perhaps 20% of the capabilities of the wizard class.

D&D 5E (2024) The Great Nerf to High Level Martials: The New Grapple Rules

Almost by definition magic gets to break the demands of realism. And Monks are explicitly magical. Fighters are the warriors that are limited to what real-life martial artists are capable of. (At least at low levels).

WotC Jeremy Crawford interview: they read your feedback. An exclusive interview by Christian Hoffer at GenCon.

. . . You're not required to buy every book. You didn't like that particular one - OK. How did you feel about the earlier offerings? Those themes are rather more mature than blood and boobs. Won't someone think of the children!?! OK. So what are you after? An adventure path with...

D&D General What "Rating" Do You Prefer Your D&D

PG 13 (Despite the fact that in my current games everyone is probably over twice that age.) Fine with fight scenes, limbs and heads severed, but we don't need to know the precise pattern of arterial spray, or close-ups of a mutilation. Sex would probably be fade to black if any of the current...

D&D 5E (2024) Give unarmed strike grapple mastery? (And give it to monks)

Personally, No. I would be happy to see grappling get some form of Mastery, and Unarmed strikes should definitely get some masteries for Fighters, Monks etc. However, I don't think that an unarmed strike should automatically lead to a grapple, or that you need to make an unarmed strike to...

D&D 5E (2024) The Great Nerf to High Level Martials: The New Grapple Rules

I assure you, it is entirely possible to throw or force someone onto the ground and hold them there with an arm or wrist lock while you are still standing or crouching next to them.

    D&D 5E (2024) UA 6 Paladin Analysis from Treantmonk

How does this compare with a cleric pumping all their spell slots into Cure Wounds spells?

    D&D 5E (2024) How is Flex still a thing?

"Spellcasting" is also a class feature.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules Glossary packet6

Maybe. ? There is nothing in those rules that say that having a Climb speed foregoes the need to make a check to successfully climb a surface. - Just that it doesn't cost extra movement. If a druid turns into a spider and wants to walk along the wall, but the DM doesn't want them to, the DM can...

    D&D 5E (2014) World Building: Army building

There was more in Exploring Eberron, with details of a lot of the special items used in the war, and a sidebar about the scale of damage. Eberron, while it has very wide magic, is a fairly low-power, PC-centric setting: Most of the war was fought between normal humans with 4hp or trained...

    D&D 5E (2014) World Building: Army building

If no one else has mentioned it already, Eberron has gone into a certain amount of detail about war in that setting. It makes the point that fireball isn't actually a good spell for war use, since it has a high level, small area and deals way more damage than is necessary to kill 4HP conscripts...

    D&D 5E (2024) Longsword finesse when used 2H

There is nothing special about the construction of the katana that grants it Finesse. Even compared to the german messers (knives) with whom they share similarities in design and usage, they are fairly short and blade-heavy. If you want your character who can't jump over their lunch box and has...

    D&D 5E (2024) I like the new Warlock

Interesting, but can you make a Warlock that has more engaging things to do during combat than repeatedly Eldritch Blast?

D&D 5E (2024) Should Wish be an Epic boon?

I certainly might allow a caster of Wish who has lost it through casting stress to regain it as an Epic Boon.

D&D 5E (2024) Epic Boon of Irresistible Offense

I would expect the Campion should be on the higher end of Fighter damage, given that will have less utility and tactical capabilities than most others. The damage increase compared to Barbarian seems about right. The Barbarian should be using Retaliation regularly, and have the edge in toughness...

    D&D 5E (2014) High-level no-save spells in practice

BBEGs and similarly threatening creatures aren't trivialised by a bit of extra damage on a single occasion. Legendary resistance isn't there to reduce fireball damage by a little either. It is to prevent trivialising of the encounter by removing the creature as a viable threat due to a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

Do you honestly believe that anyone is suggesting that they do? Not only is a caster much more likely to take longer during their action simply deciding what they want to do by virtue of many more options than a martial, but those actual actions tend to take longer to resolve. No I'm sure that...
