D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

Not having Foundry (or any VTT), that might be my source of confusion regarding Foundry, prior to WOTC's recent statements) stating that users will be able to choose between 2014 and 2020 and my thinking they sold 5e 2014 digital core books.

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

Any chance we will still be able to get 2014 digital core books on D&D Beyond, Foundry, etc.?

    D&D 5E (2014) New class niche?

I don't think WOTC is going to publish an arcane gish class. You might want to check out the following: The Warmage (Mage Hand Press), The Magus (Sterling Vermin), and, maybe, The Magus (LaserLlama)

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

That is my experience too, but WOTC keeps shooting themself in the foot. I want, just once, to think that they are not completely incompetent. :D

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

I am starting to think someone I read the other day was right when they said that WOTC might have have put out their original post as controversy to get people talking (any publicity is good publicity) so they could then step it back.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

I am not a fan of many of the changes, but there are definitely some changes that fix both certain issues and loopholes that result in unintended optimizer tricks.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Edit: Sorry for Umbrella Academy season 4 spoiler below. At which point, just pour it over the wound. I believe in season 4 of Umbrella Academy, they poured liquid Marigold into Klaus's wound and it closes up.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Yeah, if you look at first aid classes, they say not to give liquid to an unconscious person as it may result in the person choking.

    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

    1. While there are a few things that I like about 5.24, I dislike the changes to backgrounds, many of the changes to species, several of the origin feats, several of the changes to classes, the new subclasses (with the possible exception of Circle of the Sea), most of the new spells. 2. If I...

    D&D General Who shouldn't play D&D

Yeah, she might be better served by a "light-hearted" game in the vein of 80's John Hughes teen movies in which death is not on the table. ;) Another option might be something like Savage World with the Cartoon violence option or Cartoon Action Hour where PC death is, in general, not a thing

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

yes, it is according to someone going over the feats in a PHB reveal. According to the video, "If you’re holding one of them, you can load a piece of ammunition into it even if you lack a free hand" with "them" being a Hand Crossbow, Light Crossbow or Heavy Crossbow.

    D&D 5E (2024) Rules that annoy you

Healing Potion as a Bonus Action has been mentioned so I will add: Species not granting any ASI or at least species having maximum non-magical limits on strength to account for size. Ignoring Loading property of Heavy crossbows with Crossbow Expert Being able to load a crossbow without a free...

D&D 5E (2024) Has the new PHB reveals made you want to stick to an older edition of D&D, or to move onto a 5e-adjacent RPG?

Soft of. For Fantasy, I am more interested in Barbarians of Lemuria (with the Sword & Sorcery Codex), Honor+Intrigue (possibly with inexpensive non-human and magic supplements), Savage Worlds, BASH Fantasy Legend of Steel and Sharp Swords & Sinister Spells. Even Fantasy Hero 4e and d6 Fantasy...

TSR Did you play D&D Holmes without knowing it?

Nope. Modvay/Cook B/X was not a thing when I was introduced to Holmes Basic.

Quick, while everyone is focused on the 5.24 PHB...

My first non-D&D game was either Boot Hill (2e), Gamma World (1e or 2e), or the original Top Secret while I was in junior high. That is about all I recall.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Background and Origin Feat Article

Regarding backgrounds, I like how they split the Guild Artisan/Guild Merchant into Artisan and Merchant. I also liked the inclusions of Farmer, Guard and Guide. I do wish they had kept Urchin separate from Wayfarer. Since they have Acolyte, I do wish they had included both Wizard Apprentice...

D&D General What Classes Would You Add to D&D?

@Mind of tempest To add to the above, If I recall, correctly, among the Dine' (Navajo), Skinwalkers are powerful evil witches (male or female) that gained their shapeshifting by killing a close relative. Definitely, a negative connotation.

    D&D 5E (2024) The 10 Species in "Your Ideal 2024 PHB"

I edited my prior post adding Goliath and combining Gnomes and Goblins under Fey (with the addition of Kobold and Sprite to Fey). My alternate (and not serious) list in which the species are all stylized in a big eyes, small mouth anime style: Human Arachne Centaur Cyclops Harpy Lamia Mermaid...

    D&D 5E (2024) The 10 Species in "Your Ideal 2024 PHB"

Human Dwarf Elf Halfling Deva Fey (Gnome, Goblin, Kobold, Sprite) Goliath (without the temporary growth ability) Lizardfolk Orc Shifter As for Half-Dragon, Half-Elf, Half-Ogre,Half-Orc, etc., I would do them as feats that must be taken at first level.
