    Battle Maps Ideas

I mostly use the official tiles. For big battles they tend to slide about, so I use little balls of sticky putty to pin them down - which also means I can safely overlap tiles to create some really great looking setups (assuming I have time in advance to build them). A few months back Wizards'...

    Recommend me an adventure

I actually have a lot of love for Thunderspire Labyrinth, just cause of the classic setting (the Seven-Pillared Hall is full of potential). The storyline as presented needed a lot of modification to work for my group though - so it's a good one if you like customisation, I'd say. I've not...

How do you handle food and drink?

Yeah, I don't bother with it either, unless they're low on cash and on the trail (and the trail's not going anywhere soon). I've come to do the same with most small change expenses - inn stays, buying a round of drinks for the locals, purchasing torches, etc. Most of my current group's cash...

    E is for Ettercap

Hey there :) Continuing my girlfriend's "A,B,C,D&D" illustrations, here's "E"! If you're interested in seeing A-D, I've been posting them on my blog: Beholder Pie: ABCD(and D) Cheers!

Suggest Your "Rule of Three" Questions for Next Week (4/17)

Will the core rules have a default setting (e.g. a default pantheon, a default cosmology, or even a sample realm in the DMG)? Can we expect any new official campaign settings, or are we to expect a cycle of retreading old classics first? There's been talk of keeping rituals, but at the same...

D&D 4E The reason 4E doesn't work well except for "Dungeon Delves" or "Encounters"

Although, worth noting that ritual scrolls can be used by anybody: I often drop them as treasure, or at least make them readily available for purchase. Honestly not trying to be confrontational here, but I don't see the examples you've given as game-breaking for your campaign. The wards that...

Baldur's Gate Countdown Ends... Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition for Summer 2012

I think that's unfair. If an old film is converted to Blu Ray, do you see it as a money grab? I see it as keeping that film alive. Why should computer games be any different? If this release rekindles an old game for new players - on new platforms - why grumble?

    Stunlock: A DM's Worst Nightmare

Over time I've actually found "Dazed" to be a more annoying condition for solos: much more so than I initially thought it would be. It's more common, drastically limits their manoeuvrability, and wipes any meaty immediate actions that they may have.

    House Fairies!

A Domovoy features in the (epic!) WFRP "Enemy Within" Campaign, during "Something Rotten In Kislev". Tasked with tracking down a villager warped into a beastman, the PCs question various Russian spirits until they have a lead. The Domovoy is the first spirit they question. I can't offer much...

    How do you create adventures?

I usually start with a general theme: intrigue, murder mystery, exploration, etc. Then I start on a brainstorm diagram: just writing concepts down on paper, and then drawing lines off each to add connected ideas. Not a map of the adventure per se, just a way of getting all the ideas down. For...

    The A,B,C,D(and D)

My girlfriend has recently started the alphabet using D&D monsters: the sort of thing you'd use to teach kids their ABCs. She's only up to C so far, but I thought I'd share! I think they're pretty neat. I'm posting them up on my blog as she does them: Beholder Pie: A,B,C,D (and D)

April submissions to the online Dragon & Dungeon

Remember that Perkins article last month: they're moving away from Points of Light this year, and focussing future magazine content on Forgotten Realms (and other legacy settings). I know they have a long lead-in for submissions, but this probably affects queries for this window.
