Using hit points to fuel abilities?

They are an under used resource pool. It also creates important player decisions at every short/long rest.

Using hit points to fuel abilities?

I did this using hit dice to refill spell slots and class features instead of getting everything back on a rest. Players had to decide between healing and getting their special stuff back. I liked it a lot as a GM the players were unsure lol.

Are the Million-dollar Kickstarters slowing down?

Pandemic over= less free time, combined with increase in consumer prices = less disposable income.

Avoiding Death Spirals WHILE making damage count

I wrote a hack to 5e a while ago to address this issue. It uses existing conditions in 5e bundled into three wound states; Bruised, Wounded, and Maimed in order to give consequences to taking damage.Part of it is the reduction of hit points to wound boxes based on the three physical stats and...

    It's Not D&D - My Experiences

I have so many games in my collection this would be novel length if I had a go at it. Major difference between me and OP is I have never liked DnD or any of its derivatives but have enjoined nearly every other system I have played.

    Anyone else backed Dragonbane?

Getting my kids switched over from dnd5e now, I actually prefer the longer skill list but I am old hat BRP and other skill based games. In fact until I started the 5e pandemic game I haded played a class and level game since 5th grade in 1986.

    Anyone else backed Dragonbane?

Backed it right away after I read the quickstart. I have been involved in the playtest forum and it has been fun to tinker and comment on a game inprogress.

Thoughts on the Failure of Licensed IP in the Hobby: The Lack of Disney-fication is a Feature, not a Bug

When talking about starwars ttrpgs people over look how prolific WEG starwars was. Lucas sent novel writers the source book as reference material and it was considered cannon. It spawned 3 editions and well over 100 rule books, source books and adventures. What killed WEG SW was bad business...

    Critical Role Issues Statement

The way they PR talked the response (Marisha would be a good political spokesperson) makes me think they already signed the new OGL or more likely one of WOTCs super secret special agreements and have no way to back out with out damaging their company plus 100% NDA has been signed.

D&D General Is D&D Survey Feedback Read? [UPDATED!]

Soooo… In another life I did influence planning, not bikini models and beefcake on instagram but marketeers and crisis comms folks manipulating how you the audience feel about things. I have no doubt that WOTC and HASBRO have hired a crisis comms team who have already started to run a...

    Critical Role Issues Statement

I very much believe this is where C3 is heading, Prof Dungeon master on YT who kind of hilariously is something of a critter just voiced this opinion in a video as well.

    Critical Role Issues Statement

The beginning of campaign one was played in pathfinder so they could switch after this campaign wraps up. They have to be careful due to contracts with WOtC and ad money from DnDbeyond.

Which RPG games depend on the OGL 1.0a?

This is the wrong question. Open Game Content is the real issue. Companies that stupidly slapped the OGL into their books but don’t use OGC can just delete the OGL from the pdf and carry on, games that use OGC are screwed. The real kicker here is that OGC is not legally defined anywhere to the...

What's the appeal of digest-sized products?

I think nostalgia for some of us older gamers has is part of it, but as others said they fit in a bag nicely and take up lass shelf space. I would add that the smaller size tends to result in lower price points and reduces “art spam” ie the proliferation of a greater art to text ratio in many...
