Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

No idea why, but I'm now reminded of Mike Oldfield's original version of "Family Man." I think that the Hall & Oats version is better known.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I just ordered a cheap fold-out set, at least for now. Let's see how that goes. I would really prefer not to have to commit my piece to a vise, so I can drill out the stupid lock.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Could be, but I haven't touched a musical instrument in over 40 years but, back then, it started with Recorder (like pretty much everyone else), moved to Flute, then ended at Clarinet when I really wanted to go for Alto Sax. Feels like I was going for the minimum skill level required to hit a...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

It's a skill that I've been meaning to pick up, but never had the need until now. Sorry, Snarf, but I'm my "party's" skill monkey/Bard ;)

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Malapropisms drive me nuts. Especially so when it's someone like a radio host or newscaster, who should know better. I hear, "I could care less." on an almost daily basis.

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

You have to consider that the Godzilla concept was born out of a post war Japan that had just been devastated by two atomic bombs. Godzilla is the physical embodiment of that fear. For me, he's solidly SciFi.

I subjected myself to "Morbius." You aren't missing anything. Not even worth a hate-watch.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Well that's damned annoying. Went to do a rare cleaning of the Pew-Pews and the key won't insert into the lock on one. All four pins seem to move freely, so no idea why. Just ordered a lock pick set to see if I can get it off, without needing to drill the cylinder out.

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

Absolutely. And Godzilla falls well and truly into my "preachy" list of SF movies ;)

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

A quick calculation shows I'm not too far behind at something around 250mg (2-3 cups of black team and two 710mL bottles of Coke Zero a day). The only time that I get headaches is when I try to cut back, which I should definitely push through and do.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I miss the little 1-3 screen theatres. A friend and I would go out for a couple of hundred Km motorcycle ride, on Saturdays, then finish up with a $3.50 matinee at the theatre that featured in "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" as the place where the SWAT team got slaughtered. Dinner afterward at...

I'll bet the withdrawal headaches are legendary.

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

I don't know about anywhere else but in Canada, we got the original "Battlestar Galactica" pilot as a movie in theatres. For the TV show they had to un-dead Baltar, because he was executed by the Cylons in the original movie.

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

The last 30 years? Add "The Matrix." It's the almost perfect movie. Ignore the sequels. Edit - I've been a fan of Star Trek since '66, so there's your preachy ;)

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

"Metropolis" definitely crossed my mind, as did "Things to Come", but the cap was 5.

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

Noted. Those are the ones that immediately came to mind, but I know that I'm slighting some that would likely rate higher on my list. There are just so many great SF films.

    "Put. On. The glasses."

Your top 5 sci-fi movies (and why)

I'd feel better with a top 100 list, because there are just so many that I think are part of my "must be watched" list. In no particular order, except for the first: "The Day the Earth Stood Still" - A true classic and the first anti-nuke movie. "Forbidden Planet" - Shakespeare in space and a...

There are even some great electronic interpretations of orchestral pieces. I was introduced to the music of Isao Tomita back in the late '70s.

If you listen all the way through "Tangram", you can probably then recognize their work elsewhere.
