D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 3: Magazines

Not in print version, I can’t and what I want/prefer are the actual copies. But thanks.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

Using potions continues to be an action in my D&D games, assuming it is somewhere accessible. I can imagine it being deep in a pack and requiring an action just to get out (though that is rare). Characters still use potions during combat - but I have never had the experience where 3 round combat...

Which are you, The plan everything out GM, or the Ad lib?

I feel like answering this question thoroughly would take longer to write than my prep notes and tend to write several pages of prep notes (though how I approach it means I don't necessarily write it all at once).

What Bit Of Fan Fic/Edit/Theory Made a Thing Better or even GREAT For You?

I think the West End Games d6 Star Wars TTRPG mentioned this, and I never got into extended universe (which to me is everything but the films themselves - save perhaps for a couple of recent shows), so not sure if it ever explicitly came up elsewhere, but I think of the Empire as following an...

I think it is time for a break.

None of my breaks (ranging from 6 months to a few years) have been intentional, but they all ended up being a needed re-charging.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Serkis is good, but Robert Ingliss's unabridged reading is unparalleled and includes all the appendixes read aloud (in voices when appropriate).

D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 3: Magazines

I really liked Best of Dragon IV best, personally. The other ones had some cool stuff, but I think I used the NPC classes and the 1/2 ogre from IV the most.

Hmmm. . . or simply charge Snarf by the word for posting. . .

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Morrus should make the entire site ad free or grant everyone a free membership but then just charge a dollar for every post about alignment or arguing about THAC0.

What rpg system would you use for a 60+ session fantasy campaign?

Sounds like D&D to me. 60 sessions for my tastes is about half to three quarters the way through a successful campaign that reaches around level 10. One of my current 5e games is about to play their 65th session on Saturday. They are 6th level (nearing 7th).

D&D General What version of D&D are you playing?

I am running two 2014 5e games (with house rules) and play in one (with almost no house rules - much to my chagrin <---edit to add that I don't even mean I wish it used my own houserules, I just like houserules  ) Shouldn’t there be a choice for homebrewed version of 5e? That will be my...

D&D General How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway? Part 3: Magazines

For my tastes and experience, Dragon and Dungeon mags were /are the best value for D&D material. I am still collecting Dungeon mag (using the material therein to this day) when I can find cheap copies of my missing issues (tho i am mostly interested in the adventures from the 1e and 2E eras...

D&D General Favorite Forgotten Realms products of all time?

Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog. The catalog idea itself is not to my taste for a fantasy campaign, but a lot of the stuff in there is cool.

Tomb of the Lizard King - your experiences?

So since I originally posted in this thread (20 years ago!), I have run through a 3.xE adaptation/conversion of this module as a player (around 2014) and have acquired my own PoD version in 2020 (though I still haven't done my own conversion to run it for 5E) Oh and the link in my original post...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

My old friend Sean (with whom my mini collection once comingled with freely while I was in grad school) had that mini. I think he went the damsel route. I would snatch it up in a second if I found it again, too. Classic! I was able to regain a couple of minis with nostalgic value based on...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

As I have undoubtedly said before, I am definitely a "table-ready" guy and the goal I am trying to hit when painting minis is, looks decent when in use on the table. I have painted a ton of minis with this ethos, starting in 2020 (but I already had a collection of a couple of hundred mostly...
