D&D General Will you play the Revised 2024 rules?

Planning to change over, but will still be converting old material. I still intend to run Wild Beyond Witchlight or finally run Savage Tide AP. It helps that I'm not currently playing in a 5e campaign, so I'm just planning to start after I get the new Core books.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's your favorite rule change?

One thing that hasn't been heavily discussed, but I've noticed a heavy push (aside from weapon masteries and Stunning Strike) towards cutting down two-stage resolution of effects. Spells and effects generally have either a saving throw or an attack role, not both. Apparently a lot of the CR 1...

D&D 5E (2024) Motley Fool Prediction: New Dungeons & Dragons Edition Won't Help Hasbro Much

Hasbro has been shaking WotC upside-down for spare change for years, the spike in MTG content has become the new norm. The challenge is that outside of WotC, Hasbro is in trouble. Toys aren't selling as well. This is why I tend to be softer towards WotC BS and scandal, name your issue. I view...

    D&D 5E (2024) What's your favorite rule change?

Outside of the general glow-up on classes, hopefully making them all more fun to play, I like the new casting rule (No two spell slots in a round, over the earlier can only cast a cantrip if you use a spell slot on a bonus action spell) and exhaustion rules because they provide the same benefit...

Olympics Talk: A brief discussion before it goes away

Fascinating. This is the problem/joy of the Olympics, we all get to indulge in some armchair quarterbacking and become experts in things we just discovered. I was watching fencing, the bronze medal match with Eleanor Harvey winning Canada's first ever fencing medal in the Games, and while was...

D&D 5E (2014) Should the Paladin be changed into a more generic half-caster magic knight?

No, the name Paladin still has some cachet, I think 5e struck the right balance of flexibility for different settings while still feeling like a Paladin. I do worry that the Paladin does make design of other gish-esque classes tricky because it clearly stakes out its design space, I wouldn't...

Olympics Talk: A brief discussion before it goes away

High level ballroom is very athletic, but I get it's not everyone's cup of tea. Heck, I only competed at a middling level and a full round of Jive reduced my legs to jelly.

D&D General Interview with D&D VP Jess Lanzillo on Comicbook.com

There is no way to trade or cash out of MtG Arena, it's entirely a sunk cost. One could with their earlier client, MTG Online, which does support trading and selling and renting cards. But ... that client is ancient and shows it. Honestly, that's why while I still play paper MTG, I don't touch...

Olympics Talk: A brief discussion before it goes away

From what I've heard ... and this is from a political podcast so I'd take it with some salt ... Breakdancing is under the umbrella of Dancesport which has been championing Ballroom Dance as an Olympic sport for awhile and pushing Breakdancing was kinda just a change in tactics to see a...

D&D 5E (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

Multiclassing before level 3 ... delays subclass choice, not a fan. Multiclassing before level 4 ... delays feat and an improvement to an ability score ... still not a fan. Multiclassing before level 5 with a martial class ... delays Extra Attack, Really not a fan. Look, if this was for a...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D: Beyond Universes ( = crossovers?).

Staying within the WotC IP, I'm game for more MTG setting books. Bloomburrow, for example, I think would be a great addition to the DnD Multiverse. Kamigawa, Kaladesh or Amonkhet (I know it had a Planeshift article) possibly. Other crossovers? I can't think of any right now that excite me. I...

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Hopefully, wardrobe will have more budget and time ... he looked huge under that coat, and Gambit supposed to be lithe

    Spoilers Deadpool & Wolverine (Spoilers)

Solid fun, finally saw it. My friends and I were left wondering ... was this queer or were we being queerbaited? And does it matter? The plot made about as much sense as any multiversal shenanigans or the average Doctor Who episode when they get really "timey-wimey". IE, don't sweat the...

D&D 5E (2024) Learning to Love the Background System

I like Ideals/Bonds/Flaws and Personality Traits for NPCs in adventure write-ups. Gave a fairly succinct summary of the NPC and how to roleplay them.

D&D General Deborah Ann Woll Teaches Jon Bernthal D&D

Was that any good? TBH, after Iron Fist and Defenders, I tapped out on the Netflix Marvel series. And the Punisher stuff was the weakest part for me with Daredevil's second season

D&D General Interview with D&D VP Jess Lanzillo on Comicbook.com

My read on the interview as a whole was that Lanzillo is interested in broadening DnD's appeal and expanding their audience, and that does run into a lot of gatekeeping. Drilling into one example seems to ... hunting for reasons to claim the sky is falling.

D&D 5E (2024) Learning to Love the Background System

Which church? For which setting? Which Diety? Do we need Eberron-specific Paladins with separate class features than Forgotten Realms Paladins? A slightly more generic Paladin is to widen the appeal and simplify design. I view this as a feature, not a bug.

Or does it? (Pretty sure it does work as you intended, but couldn't resist referencing an old comic)
