    White Dwarf Reflections #30

"Androids" was originally used by Philip K. Dick to refer to biological humanoid constructs rather than mechanical ones. Then again, "Robots" was originally used by Čapek for pseudo organic humanoid constructs and not mechanical ones, too.

D&D General Where to start with Mystara?

I've been a little curious as to how B1-9 compares to the original separate adventures. Big difference there?

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Fabula Ultima, VOIDSEA, Vast Grimm, and more

It's pretty common in the US PTO to allow a trademark by default (IE do no real work) and let the courts figure it out later. But I do agree with your assessment.

RPG Print News – The One Ring, Troika!, and More

I assume the Vaults of Vaarn are just reprints of the stuff that's on Drive Thru? Looks fun. Lots of gonzo setting options these days.

I believe the first thing I ever did when I got access to spreadsheet software was try to use it to track RPG stats. Of course, at the time I was too young to really understand RPG stats either...

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Borderlands - First Impressions

This is true but also, Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, Wizard are the "classic" core classes, so I think that may also have been part of the decision (especially in a deliberate throwback module).

Only if one player can only advance in levels by badly misunderstanding Chaos Theory and making endless philosophical speeches about it.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Borderlands - First Impressions

This is a good point. And to some extent in my brief time learning to DM so far it seems like even if you do have a solid story, you need to be prepared to players to attempt to upend it somehow. "Emergent gameplay" is the buzzword of the day and it actually defines a few video games I love.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Borderlands - First Impressions

Interesting. I like Lost Mines of Phandelver a lot because it has those story hooks but also opens up a bit later to allow players some choice. I'm new to DMing (and, uhh, hadn't played D&D in a long time), but I managed pretty well with it. Thanks for noting the change in style.

I forget that the "men's armor/women's armor" thing can be played just as badly with "men's space suit/women's space suit."

Wizards of the Coast Releases Exodus TTRPG

Using someone else's trademark or registered trademark in the promotion (advertising, title, obvious copy on the cover a book, etc,) of your own competing product can be a serious no-no. I'm not sure if this case would qualify, because I am not a lawyer.
