    Kickstarter: GURPS Mission X

I tend to view GURPS less as a game and more as a toolkit to build a game with. With most games, even a complicated game like Pathfinder, you're getting a complete game in the package. The GM doesn't have to create the player character classes, species, spells, equipment, skills, etc., etc...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

I sure has heck wouldn't want to be the studio trying to follow up on Larian's success with BG3. Those are some mighty big shoes to fill.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

I always feel like I'm kicking someone's puppy when I say GURPS isn't popular these days. GURPS certainly has a very loyal, active fanbase. A fanbase made up of intelligent, attractive people who love tinkering around with building their own unique settings or adapting an existing setting for...

    Best Horror Role Playing Game

Just trying to play Phoenix Command was a horror in and of itself.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

Isn't GURPS pretty much on life support? It's a great game, I cut my teeth on 3rd edition in the late 80s, even played a little 4th edition in 2005, but it doesn't seem anywhere near as popular as it was in the 90s. It used to be that I could walk into my FLGS and see tons of GURPS sourcebooks...

"King of the Hill" - Back after 15 years!

I'm eight episodes in and it's on par with the original series. The tone and humor is pretty much spot on.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

Some players care. One of the things that makes D&D so popular is it caters to a wide audience. If you don't care about the particulars of a setting, it's generally not going to be a problem. You can essentially play the exact same D&D character in Forgotten Realms that you can in Greyhawk or...

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

The escape pod boxed set came with both droids. They were a lot of fun to paint. The colors aren’t a 100% match, but you can tell who they are, so I’m happy.

MGibster's Big Bad Thread of Big Bad Miniatures 2024

The trick to white is not to use white. I'm only breaking that rule because R2-D2 here is a robot and his stark white color comes off as "natural" for him. If I was attempting a white cloth I'd start with some light grey and move up to white highlights. But white is something I still struggle...

MGibster's Big Bad Thread of Big Bad Miniatures 2024

So here’s something I’m trying. White is a pretty difficult color to work with at times. I put down a base of Spaceship Exterior from Army Painter and then I put down some glossy varnish for the next part. I’m using some Tamiya panel liner to make things pop. The varnish helps the panel...

A New Hope Returns to Theaters in 2027 for 50th Anniversary Celebration

The last time I saw the original trilogy in theaters was in Dallas circa 1993. A local theater decided to show all three movies in one sitting and a bunch of my friends and I went to see them. Han did shoot first as I recall.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

A minor character from a obscure 1970s science fiction movie nobody remembers. There's always something a little frightening about painting a figure everyone is so familiar with. What's the exact color of a beholder, a red dragon, or an aboleth? Maybe it's why I shy away from historical...

Looking for a Cyberpunk Genre Game

While I remember seeing Rolemaster products for sale in the late 80s and early 1990s, I don't know if I've run into anyone who has actually played it!

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

I do like that as the years progressed Star Trek didn't just treat every member of a species as being exactly the same.

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

Variety is the spice of life and that applies to miniature painting as well. i.e. It's nice to do something a little different now and then. I don't normally paint terrain, but that's exactly what this escape pod is. In Star Wars Legion, you can use this terrain as part of some specific...
