Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

MORE than likely. We killed Thor with a Push spell off a mountain. It was ridiculous 6th grade power!

D&D 5E (2024) Next issue of Game Informer will have details on the two upcoming Forgotten Realms books

Red Wizards of Thay was the reason for its inclusion in the 3rd edition CG.

Critical Role's The Mighty Nein Reveals First Look, Season 1 to Air on November 19th

Nothing I said indicates I don't think 11 year olds use swear words. There's a difference between them learning that on their own, and a local father suggesting other people's kids go home and watch Vox Machina. Plus that Bard is just an awful example of a bard. My daughter plays a bard in...

Critical Role's The Mighty Nein Reveals First Look, Season 1 to Air on November 19th

I really wish there wasn't so much swearing in these. I am helping a new group of new generation gamers that are all 11 years old and I feel like these cartoons are inappropriate for that. Not demanding a change, but I would love a piece of media that shows D&D animation without that stupid...

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

This is funny to me because when the first of the trilogy (Dragon of Autumn Twilight I think) came out my friend John (bless his soul) read it and told me this Book was already WRITTEN IN D&D TERMS. We didn't have to put the book in D&D Terms like we did with Elric, Conan, and the Hobbit. It...

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

On tiny stone cylinders small enough for baby hands? They were probably way more convenient.

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

I was exposed to D&D the year after I read the Hobbit. Read Hobbit in 4th grade, and later that year had my first D&D Adventure with the Erol Otus Green Dragon. I learned the basics of combat. But it was not related. It was oh you liked the hobbit come play this after lunch. 5th grade is...

Evil Drow Statblocks to Return in Forgotten Realms Rulebooks Later This Year

Than you couldn't POSSIBLY have that wrong reaction! Now that you know Salvatore wrote that to conform to WOTC new improved "philosophy" its ALL perfect.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

I think its one of the best and a conclusion to a low level story. Appropriate for that page. Everyone I knew loved it. You're allowed not to.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Nobody was complaining about art done by Committee then at least before 4th edition and I don't think it was art done by committee then. They had other complaints certainly. Now they have gotten to a point where there is a lot of boxes they have to check. It is what it is.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Sorry what? I honestly don't see how you can say that. Parkinson and Hilldebrandts, and Elmore were prolific even among Bookcovers outside of TSR. The pool of talent is no greater now than it was then.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

The 4e FRCS was laid out well and had good information. I prefer the more encyclopedic 3rd edition CG but I have lots of resources to draw from to fill out the areas. I just really hated the 4e change to lore for the 4eFRCG

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

THE 4E Forgotten Realms changes caused me to ditch the entire 4e line. Went to Pathfinder and left WOTC behind. 5e didn't do enough to fix the Forgotten Realms. 5e FR was kind of like Rise of Skywalker fixing all of Rian Johnsons bad decisions in The Last Jedi. But it was enough for me to...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Yep this is always the way. Its just smug toxic positivity which is no more helpful. Franchises love to have fans that complain about their things. It drives marketing. IF something is good the fans are just as apt to let the makers know it.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

It was as serious as you wanted to make it. It had those aspects but it also had dark and brooding aspects. Just like you had Castle Greyhawk mocking module in Greyhawk.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Xanathar has already been made a cartoon by the quips they published in Xanathars. If they can't get rid of the 5e2024 art I really hope they stop putting In game Character Tweets in the rulebooks like they did with Fizban and Xanathar. Quotes are fine. The Xanathar one's were really awful.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

There is alot being conveyed in this image though. They just had a successful battle so theyre happy about that. They're making camp. There is something going on. The new covers are glam shots. Plus this wasn't the first selling point for a book like the FR covers are.
