    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

You have *never* been allowed to twin magic missile or scorching ray. If you were playing that way you were not following the rules. There is no nerf.... they just wrote it more clearly so you and others would stop reading it the wrong way. That is not a nerf. That is fixing your...

    D&D 5E (2014) Conditions vs Arcane Ward

Does the badness happen on making a hit, or on dealing damage? They are still hit, but do not take damage.

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

That's not how it works. If you take Magic Initiate and Sorc and grab Magic Missile, as a Wizard you still have no permission to use your spell slots to cast the Sorc magic missile. Thus you can cast it once via the MI feat and thats it. If you take Magic Initiate and Sorc and grab Magic...

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

Ask and you shall receive... Crawford put out a tweet that the MM errata will change resistance to be any non-magical, not just 'weapon attacks'.

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

It is not a nerf. It has *always* been this way. The way you were reading it was not the 'correct' way. The fact that you allowed Twinned Magic Missile was never part of the rules; but it wasn't presented well and you misunderstood that passage. Correcting your misunderstanding is not a nerf.

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

Errata is not a 'change', it is a correction for something that was presented incorrectly. Errata was needed in this case because an unarmed strike was never a weapon, but it was presented incorrectly in the PHB. That mistake has not been corrected. It has nothing to do with Nerfs, or OP, or...

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

No, you can't twin Magic missile at all. It can target multiple creatures, thus it can't be twinned....

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items found during the game: How do you handle the "oh look, this random dungeon just happens to have that sword my character wanted."

Not necessarily. First you are assuming that NPCs operate the same as PCs. It may be much harder to get a proficiency in polearm for an NPC. Second, the feats may not be as prevalent. Nor fighting styles, etc. Just because a polearm is one of the best choices for a PC adventurer type, doesn't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

OKay.... those look amazing! Could you give more details about how you did the art for the cards? Was that a template you found? PS? etc.... How did you get such nice rounded corners?

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items found during the game: How do you handle the "oh look, this random dungeon just happens to have that sword my character wanted."

I think that is a misunderstanding... Of course you can sell the magic items.... you just can't go to any town and walk into Ye Olde Magic Shoppe to trade in your 5 magic swords for magic plate mail. Its not a commodity. But perhaps if they find a magic longsword and magic shield..... they can...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

Dude, I'm telling you this is super easy to solve. I have done it a ton of times. Just print them out on regular paper, and then either: Method 1) Buy some Magic (or) Buy some sleeve (or)...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

Simpler version. Just remove all of the cards that have card#>Init modifier. If you are just going to ignore them no reason to have them. (What do you do if Init modifier is 0?) That is almost the same system I plan on using, with X=5 (Except I have 1 more card each)

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

It will still work. Just print them up on regular paper, and slide them on top of a magic card in the protective sleeve. Its the same way we made proxy magic cards. Easy, cheap, uniform, replaceable, don't have to worry about the backside. (And it can be a pain trying to print the backside...)

I don't do it. They get what they get. If they want a specific item they can search for clues and stories and try and hunt one down. Maybe it is part of a dragon hoard, maybe someone with one went missing near 'hobgoblin territory', maybe the Baron owns it and needs a favor or two.... I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

Save yourself some hassle. Don't worry about the exact size, you can cut them to fit. Instead of laminating, get some extra magic cards (every magic player has a ton of cards they don't care about. Give them a dollar and they will give you a stack) and card sleeves. Now they will all be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

It completely depends on if you want to allow Dex or anything else to effect initi order. With just one card each, it means Dex 8 and Dex 20 have the same chance of going first. You can use as much, or little, granularity as you want. Instead of just one level, you could have 2, or 3, or...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

While intriguing, I think these all add a lot more recordkeeping and time to the process. As it stands, the PC cards are the same for every fight, the DM just needs to add in the monster cards; but that is only once each fight. These would have cards going in and out for PCs every round...

    D&D 5E (2014) Alternative Initiative: try this

I really like that mechanic, and it should be easy to manage...I think. Not sure I like that one, it starts making a *huge* difference between high and low Dex. I think I would stick with 1 card for any Dex of 11 or lower, and then give extra cards for Dex bonuses. I do like the symmetry of...
