When I'm writing a higher level scenario I tend to have a concept and then other than any specific "dungeons" I just write scenes, or detail locations. Let the players use their spells and abilities to determine the path. Maybe consider that as a concept.

From about the age of 9 I wanted to play D&D but my first was Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay in early 1987, which was closely followed by the BECMI D&D box sets. So Basic D&D was the my second.

We always do max HP at 1st but there after you can either take 50% or roll. From both groups I run for, pretty much they prefer rolling.

I've not played PF2 to even 12th but their adventure paths are now a lot shorter, so my guess is that it has the same issue unfortunately.

For myself, it's probably 2 to 3 hours prep time per 4 hour gaming time. That's reading, taking notes, making changes, looking up stat blocks and rolling treasure. In addition I spend a lot of time in my own head running potential how it will play moments, or plotting ahead in the campaign.
