D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Then the dm shpuld have specified that beforehand, if special circumstances where character cannot do their thing are in effect, players usually are informed of it so they can adjust their actions.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Actually, base rules for adventuring day in 5e 2014 say you cannot take a long rest until either ypu defeated daily xp of encounters or 24 hours have passed since you took the last one

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

"My character, who is a Ranger and spent whole life hunting witha bow, would be competent enought to ensure they have enough arrows even if I, regular modern person playing them, did not think of specifying it." And dismissing this argument either means players are told they cannot play a...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I have never seen a situation where running out of ammo did not result in annoyed player and an argument taking everyone out of the story. And it is hard not to take the player's side because while THEY may forget to track their arrows, the character they're playing would never do that and it...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

By this logic spear should be superior weapon in meele 100% of time. Then again I know that people in 5e fandom are mad about spears being useless too.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I am well aware WotC designed Fighter to be simple on purpose. I believe it was a bad decision. I believe Fighter as a class suffers and cannot reach its full potential, all for the sake of filling role that is already being filled by Barbarian. We should have simple and complex martial classes...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Agreed with it. Especially since, again, Barbarian is very simple and carries the torch of simple class much better - "I would like to rage, then full attack with Reckless attack".

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

You have made many assumptions about me, so let me clarify: I did not come here with the question I asked as any sort of "gotcha", but merely hoping for interesting design discussion adjecent to the topic at hand. Since this thread has a lot of people defending simple martial classes, I thought...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

That also creates its own issue, namely that in 3.5 it was very common to complain that 1. Meele characters are so useless their magic weapons and items do everything for them (which lead to 5e removing ability to buy magic items) and 2. Nothing stops casters from picking up the same magic items...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I will repeat, these complaints are applied to ALL martial classes, not just the Fighter. Barbarian, Monk, Rogue and sometimes even Paladin and Ranger are all facing this criticism. Claiming people have 11 other classes is just not true in this context.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I have a question for people who argue against complexity for a Fighter class. Here are two most common complaints I have seen from people who play martial characters in D&D. Not just Fighters but also Monks, Barbarians, Rogues and other nonmagical classes. 1. "On my turn all I do is the same...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Yet I have seen enough complaints from frustrated players and DMs to know this is an issue, it's like in every other DNDhorror story. 100 Men Slayer from Berserk Fire opening from RRR 10 Black Belts from IP Man Scourge's Last Stand from Walt Simmonson's run on the Mighty Thor Each of those...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

And I can already see how it iwll look in practice DM: Ok Bob, your turn. Bob the Fighter: Wait, I forgot to switch my weapons! <Bob spends 10 minutes trying to switch the weapon> Player A: Dammit Bob! We told you to do it after your turn, before we circle back to you! You're slowing the game...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

That people want to play guy with a sword because msot popular heroes in fantasy are guy with a sword, and when asked which class is guy with a sword class, they're directed to fighter. If Fighter was more complex, nothing would change. Barbarian. Rogue. Monk. Paladin. Warlock. So many simple...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

But you realize this works in reverse too, right? That if Fighter had BM maneuvers by default, people could jsut tell you that if you don't like it, you should play something else? And how do you know the people you talked with aren't the minority? I know that the complaints about Fighter being...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Yes, especially that part when the guy swings at the air and these morons fall on their asses out of sheer terror. No, it just makes the overwhelming number of mooks look INCOMPETENT. there is literally a trope about this - conservation of ninjutsu. In ALL OF FICTION I can only name you 4...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

First of all, I know it is not your preference, that part was replying to another user, so I don't get why you took it personally. Second, Rogue is very simple. And so is Barbarian. And Monk. And Warlock. Paladin too. I think fans of simple classes will do with Fighter actually being good...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

But do you realize your own hypotethical makes the game look like a comedy of errors and festival of incompetence, more in place in a parody of fantasy than a D&D game?
