D&D General Weapons should break left and right

But it is because a well-maintained weapon will last much longer, and in this case enforcing weapons breaking left and right just makes the PC look incompetent.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

You are missing the big difference between TTRPG and a video game. In video game when you die or lose, nothing happens. You died or you lost, load the save or checkpoint. If you die or lose in TTRPG, then a character you put so much work into is just gone. Yes, you can have ways to bring them...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

So now every hero comes packaged with a horse, a mule and a porter, not to mention an entire chart full of weapons.

And healing should never heal you fully but often leave lasting damage even when the wound is fully healed. In fact, without full surgery avialable, there should be much more amputated limbs or people bleeding out.

D&D 5E (2024) Did Vampires just become more of a problem?

I just realized some strange implication that arises from change of creature types in 2024 and 2025 books. Namely, in 2024 D&D Gnolls are reclassified as Fiends and Lizardfolk as Elementals. We had a Vampire Gnoll in Incewind Dale: Rime of the Frost Maiden and we had Vampire Lizardfolk in...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I think there are better ways to do it than making combat with weapons fundamentally worse if not useless. Have you thought that a design that incentivises you to hoard reasources and then punishes you for it is fundamentally bad game design? Any design where mechanics push players towards one...

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Barbarian. It's called Barbarian. You want to play Barbarian. This will just cause people to refuse to use anything but weakest magic weapons because "we may need them later". We have decades of video games to prove that Your solution effectively just transplants an issue from another medium.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

Then people would just not use the cool weapons and still be carrying way too much. And I guess tough luck if you're fighting anything that doesn't use weapons, like a bear, boar or beaver, or manticore, chimera or owlbear or any ooze, huge chunk of demons, devils, abberrations. I get Monks...

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart?

I find it really annoying how any news people will spin into predcting death of Daggerheart. It's like they WISH it to fail, which is weird when you consider how often the same people complain about supposed plague of folk who only ever play dnd.

D&D General Weapons should break left and right

I think everyone who played any vudeo game with breakable weapons disagrees. There is nothing about dnd and fantasy that is evoked by image of heroes dragging chart of weapons behind or keeping best weapons for "special occasion" that never comes

Dungeons & Dragons to Release Lorwyn: First Light, a New Digital Expansion Based on Magic: The Gathering World

Every day my fear, of one day waking up and discovering that entire Dark Sun setting actually has always been just sitting in the middle of Anauroch Desert, is getting stronger. How many settings has Forgotten Realms ate already? Lowryn, the 80's cartoon, they tried to have it absorb Rock of...

Critical Role Professor DM interviews Critical Role Cast

And I find it very insulting towards all these games, as fantasy hearbreaker is, imo, inherently dismissive and insulting term, synonymous with failiure, as well as unspoken implication the person using it considers creators of the game too dumb to know there are other rpgs than d&d. I mean, how...

Critical Role Professor DM interviews Critical Role Cast

Meanwhile the guy who designed D&D 5e picked Daggerheart as the kind of game he wants to run on his own actual play, Acquisitions incorporated. So even lead designer of D&D prefers Daggerheart.

D&D 5E (2024) Class and Subclass Design: What Works

Something about class and subclass design from latest Matt Colville video - he was descriving classes in Draw Steel and cited MCDM team's experience designing Illiger, Talent and WIldheart for 5e. Namely, that the decision of not having multiclassing in Draw Steel was made by how broken...

Critical Role Professor DM interviews Critical Role Cast

You know, if a game needs most popular actual play to not become fantasy heartbreaker (after selling out initial printing, btw) overnight...that game doesn't sound so good to begin with. I think this line of defeatist "Daggerheart is one hit KOed, D&D won, the game is dead" is doing more damage...

The way D20 is structured they really do not have room for boring parts.

Critical Role Releases New Campaign 4 Trailer

Popular theory is that Orion was first to realize what gold Critical Role struck and that's when he became the spotlight hog, trying to become THE main star of rising super popular show. The fact he infamously threw a fit on twitter about fans making shirts with Tiberius quotes shows he may have...

Critical Role Releases New Campaign 4 Trailer

Like, the biggest complaint that CR fandom was repeating over and over again was that Campaing 3 is too comedic and "everyone made Jester" was a popular phrase like half of videos about why Campaign 3 doesn't work dropped.
